Virtual Friendship

I have known a very good friend through online chat since 2006 or 2007. The distance wasn't a problem. He was a great and understanding friend. I could tell him my problems without being judged. These 10+ years, we had on and off friendship. We lost touch for several years until recently. I knew where to find him. He's here in CS and a famous blogger(not the most famous but one of the best) Though we have never met in reality but our friendship is still strong.

To this great friend, thank you for the friendship and being a good listener. handshake

that's great! I guess I know him. Lollaugh
laugh That's great. He's a real friend. thumbs up
famous blogger? He must be talkative or opionated then lollaugh
There are many kinds of friendships.

Always remember never tell a friend your secret you don't want your enemy to know.

To friendship of all kind. beer
Nah, he wasn't talkative but at times funny. Opionated yes.
Well, I hope you also do blogging.handshake
Very true. Never tells everything . You never know. It was more about emotions( happpy, sad) and a bit about family. To us if one of us didn't want to talk more about family or other topics, we did not insist. I guess that was what kept our friendship strong. There are all kinds of friendship . I guess ours is the platonic type.
Most of the time I have writer's block. Hope to continue writing about my life experiences.
that would be nice handshake
@op I too have a few such friends, going back to the early days of online chat rooms, last century. With two I am/was in daily or weekly contact via ICQ, QQ Wechat and now defunct apps like MSMessenger, YahooMessenger. In each case we have visited each other in our respective homelands. Each of us is/was married and had children, but that was never an issue - romance has been excluded from these friendships, but love has not.
Hi Beibee wave

Which part of Shah Alam are you at? I’m at Ara Damansara at the moment. Would you like to meet up?
Yes, I remember those messengers. I used that to communicate with a few online friends all over the world. But unfortunately we have lost touched except for this friend of mine. We seldom communicate because of our nature of work.
How I wish the messengers never defunct. Sigh...I missed those fun time chatting online. As you said, romance was never in the picture. We just enjoyed chatting as friends.
I'm from Klang but I work near Shah Alam.
That's a VERY long time to be buddies but actually one of the nicest friendships I've had, I never met the guy. We talked two or three times on Skype but as he had a REALLY strong American accent we struggled to understand each other, writing was easier and we did, for years. Not a singles friendship, he was happily married and I went through a few blokes during the years, we just clicked on the chatting front.

Hell I miss him so much. RIP. I envy you your nice friendship. bouquet
My son who’s a big fan of dry Bak Kut Teh, didn’t get the chance to have it at his favorite restaurant in Klang before he left for the States 2 weeks ago but fortunately I was able to bring him to one in my hometown, Teluk Intan.

Well, I’m free to meet anywhere if you want but if you don’t, that’s alright too wine
Hi, there are quite a number of dry Bak Kut Teh restaurant in Klang. Klang is famous for its bak kut teh. There's one near my working place and there's another one behind Hokkien Association. We can meet during the weekend in Taman Eng Ann.
Hi Suziecute, I can relate about the struggle. A friend(virtual friend before we met) of mine from UK visited Malaysia and we met for the first time. The accent was so strong that I couldn't understand what he was talking about. He visited few times to meet up with his Malaysian girlfriend(now wife). His then gf and I knew him from a social platform.

I missed the time when we used skype or messenger to chat. I enjoyed chatting with them. We could chat for hours. I had virtual friends who were happily married but I made myself clear that I don't go for married men. I even met them with their wives. I, too missed some of my virtual friends that I have lost touch.
Awesome! Would you be available this coming Saturday, 3rd February? How about we meet at 11am? Let me know the name of the restaurant in Taman Eng Ann. I’ll use Waze to get there. Art is a very finicky eater. He doesn’t like 90% of the food in Malaysia and other Southeast Asia countries roll eyes mumbling He hasn’t tried dry Bak Kut Teh before therefore I’m feeling a bit apprehensive. He does like Char Siew and Kai Si Hor Fun very very much grin
Took him to one of the best in Ipoh the other day laugh
