Would it be better if people were not categorised by their religion? The news always talks about the various religious communities in a country and their reaction to events. Sometimes violent protests are used if there is a difference between a countries laws and the beliefs of a group. In a democracy, laws are established by representatives of the people and must be obeyed, otherwise there are penalties. The fact that a particular religious group disagrees should not affect the application of the law. Sometimes police ( UK particularly ), are worried that they may offend a community and consequently appear reluctant to apply the law for fear of reprisals. Residents of a country should abide by the rules and regulations regardless of any conflict with their religious beliefs. Individuals who break the law may feel that they can hide behind an organisation who they feel will offer them protection and justification in the unlawful manner in which they protest. These situations exist also with, "Just stop oil" and "Climate change" protesters.Society is at risk of a breakdown if there is failure to prosecute offenders.
