Celestial Readings Astro Update for Dec 11-18 2011

The most spectacular and beautiful total Lunar Eclipse occurring on Sat. (Dec. 10. at 5:32AM) at 18 degrees on the Gemini-Sagittarius axis was visible from the west coast and the South Pacific as well as the western continents (Asia, Australia, New Zealand etc). What made it especially outstanding was the Moon's proximity to the Earth, ballooning its appearance and giving it a striking reddish hue. For a diagram showing the proximity and the scientific reason for this rare phenomenon (compliments of NASA) see:

This particular TYPE of total Lunar eclipse only occurs every 19 years and to understand its impact (both) historically and on you personally, you may recall the years 1992, 1973, 1954 and 1935.

In the previous week's update's the effects of Gemini/Sagittarius were described. In addition to all thing mobile, Gemini/Sagittarius are the two signs most associated with information and communication. What you say and do in this cycle will be important because the eclipse intensifies the effects of all actions. We could say that Gemini is the sign of gathering and conveying information and Sagittarius is related to the 'scope' of knowledge and philosophy.

The aspects are extraordinary as well. This week starts off with the waning full Moon in Cancer (Dec.11, 8:26 AM;EST) as a key player of some pretty remarkable configurations that offer us a unique perspective into the windows of the soul, (as well as the soul of our partners, close relations and allies) ~should we care to adopt the view.

Because of Cancer's sensitivity, this is a particularly perceptive and intuitive moment. Cancer governs all things that have a water nature, essential to life ANYWHERE in the Universe. Our very primordial oceanic beginnings are therefore, under Cancer ~the crab's~ domain.

As it would follow, the Moon therefore governs the tides and those who live by the sea are familiar with the dramatic influence of the Full moon that produces higher water lines and 'double tides.' For some sea-side dwellers, whose very livelihood is dependent upon the tides, this is a particularly welcome time of month. I, myself, whose beginnings were played out along the rocky shorelines of the coast of Maine, recall relatives and neighbors, ~from lobstermen and crabbers, to clam and muscle diggers who took advantage, gearing up and preparing for the yield of the Full moon double-tides. Make no mistake. There are those worldwide whose very survival is dramatically dependent upon the vast and rich resources that the oceans prolifically offer.

The Moon is also Cancer's ruling planet (as any emotional Moon child knows) and so the first few days of this week the transit Cancer Moon presents a window of great sensitivity and a propensity towards healing. During this period, we not only have a “room with a view” (into our soul), but are also given a chance to heal what is hurt, broken or cast astray ~a golden opportunity.

As it were, the Moon's transit into magnanimous Leo (Tues,Dec.13th 4:46PM,EST) will result in the formation of a Grand Fire Trine,
