Twas the night before departure
and all through the housebags were being packed
still thinking about a spouse
crossoffs on the checklist
tickets, passport and ID
still wondering what she will think of me
months of anticipation have come to a close
the emails, phone calls, texts
there's much more I suppose
now the skin is shaven
the colognes are in a row
i'm ready for a new life adventure, as I carefully clip my toes
