I CHANGED... AND ITS NOT TOO BAD AFTER ALL

When I was younger, I was fascinated with music but never dared to sing in the open. My siblings who sing well used to tease me about how selfish I was to not share my talent in singing. But now that I am older, am learning to play the drums and Yukelele as well.

When I was younger, I was drawn to the beauty of the ocean but didn’t learn how to swim. I remember staying in the shallow side of the pool because I was scared of drowning. I never enjoyed the water when I was out in the beach because I did not know how to swim.
But now that I am older, am into swimming. I took swimming class when I was 34, i was embarrassed to be amongst 5-10 year old in that class but it did not stop me and now am getting my open water diving certificate.

When I was younger, I don’t like to dance. I hated my PE teacher then for choosing dance steps which was difficult to follow. During our PE class presentation, I just stood on the dance floor like a log. I just can’t sway my hips nor move my feet with the music’s rhythm.
But now that I am older, I am into Sumba dancing, swinging my hips, rolling my body, moving my shoulders and jumping high with every beat of the music.

When I was younger, I was small, my skin was smooth, my hair was black, had a complete set of tooth. But now that I am older, I can see lines on my forehead, white strands of hair and had few teeth extracted. Even though I had lost some charm of youth, I feel more confident than ever. I walked with grace and head up high knowing that I am more knowledgeable than before. I feel more contented knowing that I had been to places I dreamed of going before. I feel more secure knowing that I have made ore friends now than when I was young. And I feel happier because I had accepted myself more than I did when I was younger. I am at peace with my skin. I just noticed, I have changed a lot and it is not too bad after all.
