On line dating can be soul destroying if you allow
Due to various personal reasons, in May this year I decided to take the plunge and try online chatting. My experience to date has been an emotional roller coaster ride of note. I have met some rather strange individuals and obviously the scammers that attempt to beguile you with flowery words and great declarations of undying love which seem to be copied and pasted straight from a hallmark card. But not all is lost, I have also come across some really lovely people and sadly also those who have been deeply hurt by deceiving and conniving people online. I take my hat off to those dear people who have been hurt yet still cling to the hope that there is that someone special out there who is just waiting to be found, truly those people are to be commended for their perseverance in the face of such great odds.Over the past couple of months I have come to realize that online relationships are as real as physical relationships, the only difference been that when you put your heart out there it is being hurt and crushed by someone you have never met in person. But trust me the pain is very real and requires the same healing as any other relationship that has experienced betrayal and sudden unexplainable termination. In fact I have even come across articles written about people who have committed suicide over online relationships that went sour or turned out to be a hoax. I do agree that is quite extreme and genuinely disturbing.
However, I have felt so discouraged by the insincerity and dishonesty online that I was ready to give up until I heard someone say, “ You will have to kiss many toads before you can find that special Mr Prince Charming” . My conclusion to the wonderful world of online dating or chatting is that if you are going to put your heart out there looking for that someone special and risk getting it trampled and hurt, then let it be by someone you met in person over a steaming hot cup of coffee and please always remember to brush your teeth and floss after kissing your toad...and never ever give up in your search for that holy grail of sincere love.
