Time to play.........

Ever heard the expression all work and no play makes’ Jack a dull boy?

Well the dangers of ‘all work’ and not taking time out to do fun things will eventually lead to burn out. Unfortunately the symptoms of burn out are not always evident immediately as they slowly appear over a period of time....unless you recognize them and take steps to change your lifestyle or habits it can be quite detrimental to your physical health, your emotional state of mind, your personal relationships and very importantly your ability to function competently in the work arena.

Some of the tell tale signs are.......

1)When your friends mention you are no fun anymore because you take yourself too seriously.
2)You battle to concentrate......almost to the point where your speech becomes incoherent.
3)Sleep patterns and eating habits are abnormal.
4) A sense of detachment, of feeling alone in the world.
5)You isolate yourself by withdrawing from others.
6)It takes forever to do the simplest of tasks....everything becomes a drag to do.....

Once you recognize that something is wrong it is up to you to make the changes.....starting with play therapy.......go do those things that you enjoy and get your zest for life back by simply having fun.

True, life has become so hectic and stressful, we need to relax and have fun sometimes, but there are some people who take everything so seriously its as though they have forgotten to smile
I must be seriously burned out. I battle to concentrate as I am trying to do too many things at the same time. I have no sleep or eating routine. I suspect I am an alien as I can't relate to any of the people around here. Seldom see other people as I must dress up and go out in the cold for that. Doing dishes or washing or cleaning the house is such a drag that it takes forever for me to even start with it. grin
Im not working and not playing
Could use a woman ... for some board games uh oh

Ken you have the right idea there as that is my kind of fun.

I believe I might be suffering from that, Kitty. laugh
Lukeon - I know whereof I speak. It is a very simple (on the surface) task, but when the area is large, it requires attention and it is a marvelous therapy. I use a Farmall Super C myself but any of the old IH tractors or the John Deer Bs or Rs provide a similar therapy which pushes the outside world away.

Indeed if the area is large, even run behind mowers provide therapy (and exercise too) that makes forgetting the outside world easy.

Regarding my own yard, as some of the sharper eyed have noticed, I now have a household staff, and with their consent I am releasing this picture of my housemates forgetting the outside world after I consented to allow them to mow one of the smaller pastures. So guy, my mowing is being done as I write. laugh

You need a nice Guernsey cow, Ken. No more mowing. Only mooing and milk... wine
They need way too much water and stuff. I am not interested. Neighbors have cows goats and horses (mules too), so why should I buy the cow if I get my milk virtually for free?
There is that, Ken! More power to ya!
