Being a proud atheist

I have read many blogs on the subject matter of religion and I can safely say that I am proud to be an atheist, because I am in charge of my own destiny not a god.

Some brainwashed fanatics say that good people who don’t believe in a god won’t go to heaven, but who decides whether they do or whether they don’t? Are they saying people will be excused for every crime or bad deed they committed and still go to heaven as long as they believe in a god? In the so called name of god people have murdered millions of innocent people in wars over religion; many fanatics have spread hate towards gays, aggressively manipulated their beliefs on others and are totally un-accepting of other religions or atheists.

Instead of going to heaven how about leaving this earth in peace knowing you have been in charge of your own destiny, helped others who needed help, lived life honesty without judgement of others beliefs, race, sexuality, disabilities and of course lived a happy fulfilling life, so when I sum it up religion has nothing to do with happiness nor does it have any bearing on how someone leaves this earth.

I believe in being a good person, loving others close to me, being opened to others opinions and taking them on board, sticking up for what is right, being honest, kind, thoughtful, understanding and most of all believing in myself.
These are my opinions and you are free to share yours.

Welcome dear callihug I have never been a religious person, but had to say prayers at school when I was young, only ever been to church a few times and once was my cousins wedding.

The origin of my family's religion was church of England and my mums father(my grand father)was a very strict man, who did go to church and made his children go also, but my parents have never been religious themselves and we have always had the freedom to decide.

I am not against religion itself as long as it is positive, peaceful and good, but when you see so many wars being fought over religious beliefs by fanatical, religious, cults of people without any regard for human life you have to question how much of a positive influence religion really is in this world.

Just wondering why we should be anything at all when it comes to what we believe or not believe. I am not an atheist even though I stay clear of gods and other stuff you need to believe in, in order for it to be real.
It is only believe that keeps God alive. Soon as most people stop believing in him, he will disappear like all the gods before him. dunno

Welcome back ekwave

Yes a very interesting point of view and something to think aboutwink
@Iotaoo, my friend indeed, but the truth is that we can all be as simple as having to tolerate anybody's belief and that is all there is to it. Period. In my book. You believe or not, just be good to me and the world and that is all that matters...Don't be judgmental as I certainly am not qualified to do that and neither is anyone on my realms. Acceptance and ignorance go a long ways..

Yes a new member cswelcome

If you stick around on the blogs for long enough you will get to know members without photos, besides how do we know that the photos on a profile are real anyway? CS allows us to choose whether or not we put up a photo or not and I choose not to, because I'm only here to chat and already have a girlfriendgrin
It's interesting how the religious down the ages behave just like Atheists of today do, that is, posturing about having the most enlightened belief. People never change do they.

One could say Atheists are even more up themselves than the religious have ever been because of universalism: Atheists assert their beliefs as fact and not as faith like the religious do, and no Theist can match the knowitallness of the enlightened Atheist despite the certainty that Atheists of the future will laugh at the beliefs of Atheism today.
I want to set the record straight

I started working on a voluntary basis for a registered animal sanctuary in 2006,then I worked voluntary for a registered children's charity and I am still working voluntary for another registered animal sanctuary, so I can safely say I have contributed in a positively to society by helping the needy animals and children.

There is nothing worse than people using profanity and making unfounded claims about folks they do not know, because as I just proved they are wrong about everything and I think they might just be a troll perhaps looking for an audience and reactionwink but no they can crawl back under that rock they came from, because I'm not taking the baitpeace
