My first day off in 18

days. Bemused to report I slept for a full 16 hours. Went to bed at 8am Saturday. Woke up just a few minutes before midnight on Saturday. Will work tonight. I am not sure if how I spent my only day off was well spent or not. Clearly I needed the sleep after 18 12 to 18 hour work days.

A mixed thing was going through 4 days of CS blogs I hadn't read. Took till now 8am. A good thing was some food blogs by a pretty lady have inspired me to make a dozen blueberry cupcakes. Yumm.

It was a good thing because, 1) as a single guy working those kinds of hours, baking doesn't get done that much here anymore. Much easier to either go the fast food route (hello $5 Pizza from 7-11), or simply pan fry some chicken parts or hamburger. 2) some of the eggs in my refrigerator were getting old and something had to be done with at least some of them, 3) the question which is better for the home chef, permanent coated metal cup cake pans or throw away after one use stamped ones made of heavy aluminum foil. Answer is the foil ones because you just throw them away when done, no scrubbing required. 4) there is an age old question concerning blueberry muffin mix. Which is better? Marie Callender brand or Jiffy. 6 of each were made. Taste comparison continues with no clear winner yet. 5) it cheers me up because I just re-read my 'ode to my best friend' and I do miss the little scamp. 6) I soaked the muffins with melted butter and the cats love theirs.

UPDATE

The cupcakes are gone and jury is in. Jiffy mix is better. 1) less milk required to prepare, 2) browns quicker (because of lower moisture from less milk?), 3) has many more dried blueberries in it. Also tastes just a hair better in my opinion. The winner of the cook and taste comparison is Jiffy. applause
