That is a modern refrigerator compared what I had to put up with
You could fit in a brick of ice cream in the freezer compartment, not much more. Ice accumulated very quickly and you had to defrost it about every few weeks for sure.

There was something to do every season
Skipping rope, or marble time or flying a kite wave
We were allowed out after school and only had to come in when it started to get dark wave
We ever refused to come inside to eat. mam had to let us eat outdoors or we would not eat, we blackmailed her wave
No sliced bread in my time so I suggested slicing the bread in 1/2 and then each part in drie part, so altogether 6 pieces...............wave
Butter so thick on that bread that are teeth marks were showing,, people wanted to know what cheese we used wave
My auntie from Canada send us peanut butter no one else had this, at the time still love the stuff wave
My aunty send a lot of clothes to stuff that you could not ever buy in Holland at the time
One piece suit for my baby brother. the one with a hoody and socks
wave
Took him out of the bus just to show him off and the people sure looked it was so neat and different wave
A lot of stuff sent from Canada during, and also after the war, it was always very welcome that is for sure wave
Oh yeas my aunt send ice skates but the Dutch skated on wooden skated so this we had to learn it was not easy so high compared to ours
