I've Never Heard Anyone Crying

You know how much I love you
How vulnerable I have become
Never allowing someone this close
Always struggling on my own.
I know nothing of self-confidence
I know only that I am strong.
My spirit may sometimes lose it's way
But it has never strayed for long.
Self-esteem is non-existent.
I know only what I am.
Hope is a surreal promise.
Broken promises be damned.
I've lived through many heartaches.
I'm familiar with the call.
But I will always be there for you
And I will always break your fall.
With all the triumphs and the pain
I look back on memories.
But I've never heard anyone crying
So how do I know anyone loves me.
I am frightened beyond measure
Because I know what I have done.
I've given you my heart and soul
Because for me you are the one.
