"SO LONG A TIME AGO"

Was It So Long A Time Ago?..Ive Just Realized That It Has been That Long...."So Long A Time Ago"..It Was A Simpler And Id Say A
Better Time..These Are my Reasons For My Thinking
1)There Were No Malls(Everything was Gotten From The Corner Store Or You Went"Downtown" For Your Christmas Shopping Or Whatever)
2)You Dont See 2 Dogs Hardly Anymore Chumming Around Together As the Laws Dont Allow this Anymore(Personally..Dogs Had it better Then..They Were Allowed To Live)
3)There Are No More Fruit Vendors Driving The Streets And Calling Out To let You know They Are Around(No More Rag Man Either)
4)The "Traveling Salesman" Doesnt Knock On Our Door Anymore(Nor The Lady Selling Avon..Or The guy trying To Sell You A Vacuum Cleaner)
5)Back Then The "Bill Collectors" Would be Banging on The Door(They Do It Differently Now)
6)One of my Chores Was To Burn The Trash In A Barrel In The Back Yard(Thats Against The Law Now..It Ended In The 60s)
7)Gone Are The Nickel Candy Bars(That Were Bigger Than One you Can Buy Today For A Dollar)(Ice Cream Cones?..5 Cents)
8)Gasoline Was 19 Cents A Gallon.(.Cigarettes? 25 Cents A Pack)
9)We Could Leave the House door Unlocked..(Not Anymore)
10)Used To Go To The"Boys Club"(Now?..Boys And Girls Club)
11) If You Were lookin For A job In The Newspaper You Looked Under .."Help Wanted Men" Or "Help Wanted Women"
12)On Sunday..Not A Store Was Open(You Got What You needed on Saturday Or You Were Out of Luck
And Of Course
13)If It Was Snowing..You Went To School..And When At School..If you were Out Of Line You Would get Whacked With The Ruler On The Hands
Yeah...That Was "So Long A Time Ago"...........detective
