Happiness..............
One must remember that most people on our planet today have very little freedom – Every society in our world is very different and each attempts to find meaning and happiness in a completely unique way. .. ..."Happiness is not something ready made..... It comes from your own actions." -- Dalai Lama. .. .. Happiness is one of the many emotions humans experience. It may perhaps be the most important feeling a person can have and it is the one feeling everyone strives to achieve, yet strangely, for the most part, people seem to only get a glimpse of it. Pleasurable satisfaction, a state of well-being and contentment are the more outstanding elements of happiness. .. ... true happiness is found in the emotional connections established between people. .. ,... the length of one’s life, the presence of love, and the amount one’s progress or success throughout their lifetime. ... ... “Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.” -- Denis Waitley. .. seeking only pleasure cause many problems on both self and others. Therefore, I think that striving for authentic happiness is the best way to solve problems that humans cause by seeking pleasure and make the better world where many people can become happy .... ,,.... ,,,.... the concept of happiness is complex and hard to measure, many people believe that happiness is mysterious, elusive, and totally out of their control. This is not true. Actually, happiness is a choice. Each person can decide whether to be happy or not. ,,... ..."Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." -- Abraham Lincoln....

I have heard this and similar theories quite often, but i cant help but wonder how this applies to the less fortunate people in life,,those who have had harrowing experiences, those in constant pain, victims of horrendous acts etc..
I think everyone from birth deserves happiness,,but in my opinion its rarely that simple.....Perhaps...moving
My daughter, in constant pain, can elect to be happy? I think not. I, as her mother can elect to be happy, watching her suffer? No. All we can hope for is glimpses of contentment and joy and pretend her condition doesn't exist.
The theory is idealistic and is not applicable for everyone.
I do believe true happiness cannot be sought external to self.....but is found within. How do we measure success, for example? If we do so, by tallying up material wealth...true happiness will be lost. If we look for ways on how to improve our attitude, personality, the way in which we relate to people in a positive light etc...this will usually reflect in a happier state of mind.

There's such a thing as being too materialistic, but then there's this spiritual narcissism of the east(and its formerly trendy western enthusiasts)which means you don't fully engage with the real world as it is. It's one of the reasons why your society is a horrorshow and you're content to live in that.
