Its certainly possible, just not very likely.

Meeting somebody online is no easier than meeting somebody in real life. Just a different medium.

But you still have a chance of success if you know what you want, are realistic, and then go look for them, don't wait for them to find you.

Here was a Lady on CS,that took contact and told me,that she had read my Blog and that we was on the same wavelength... I read her Blog too and came to the same solution,so I send her a letter and she answered with,that I had send her a so nice letter and also told more about her self.
Unfortunately,i was tight up in drawing the Logo for my Sons last Company and I did not have a chance to answer her,that same day and next day she send me a letter,where she was upset,telling me,that I had abandon her after so nice first letter and wishing me a good luck.
I told her what had happen,but she never answered to that letter.

This is very typical in Internet dating,very small thing and no answer anymore,because in Candy Land there are so many more waiting.....it is like very few have patience enough to get something real to happen.

The reality is,that if you like to drink coffee and your date want to drink tee,the next letter is not coming to come anymore.
