RE: Poor, Poor Cricket

I had animals that didnt fit the mold either, but I never went and shot them. Got a dog now that never shuts up, steady yap yap yap yap yap. She is aggressive with the cats as well, always having to referee. That dog is one of my family though and the idea of getting rid of it is a none starter.

If she didnt want the dog, she should have surrendered it to a animal shelter. Shooting your dog went out of style here a long time ago and where I live, hunting and working with animals is a way of life for many people. No one, and I mean no one does anything like that here since the 80s no matter what the dog does, they will take it to the vet and have it put down humanely.

RE: Deleting my profiles on dating apps and applying for a new job

Just a small tip to make a modern relationship have a chance at working....there is no guarantee here either...

The main tip I can offer is, the woman has to be more attracted to you than the man is to her.

There is a lot of information out there that men must now be aware of...remember, we are no longer living in a "traditional" way of relationships. Men need to understand what that all means.

RE: Deleting my profiles on dating apps and applying for a new job

...in addition,

Don't get me started on women who have slept with a large number of men and how it makes them undatable. laugh

One could argue, that the day of the "traditional" relationships are in the middle of being destroyed and a new "traditional" is being born.

So....modern men must be mindful of this when finding a potential partner.

Finding a woman who has not been "changed" to put it politely, is like finding a literal unicorn.

Do some research on what happens to women when they sleep with over 5 different men....and keep in mind, there are women out there who have slept with well over 100 men.

RE: Deleting my profiles on dating apps and applying for a new job

Hello Phil,

I would say, good call. From all the data I have heard about online dating, only the top 5%-ish of men have success on them. The huge majority of women on them all compete for those 5% of men.

Remember the old way of getting a date? The old way of getting a date is for the man to pursue the woman. So with these online dating sites, women are getting 100+ messages a week from men. Put yourself in their shoes. What would you do if you were getting 100+ messages per week? I know what I would do. I would only respond to the top percent of them. That would be the easiest way to deal with that many messages.

Then what happens after responding to those most attractive users...you may go on a date or 10 with those users to satisfy your curiosity of them. But in the meanwhile, you got another 100+ messages....and you see 8 other users that look even more attractive than the previous 10+ dates you just had...so now your curiosity makes you wonder about these new attractive prospects....and the cycle continues.

That is why many women have a huge "body count" of men they have slept with...that is why women have a roster of men they see on a regular basis....and most importantly, regarding your post here....that is why online dating does not work for 90% of men.

So, good call with deleting your profiles.

Men have brought traditional dating practices in to a modern era of technology that no longer works for the majority. Men have to change their dating practices....and update it to the modern environment of dating.

RE: Poor, Poor Cricket

Keep the politics out of this as it's animal cruelty at it's worst.

Frankly I'm appalled that anyone could shoot their dog because it didn't fit their agenda.very mad She should be banned from keeping any animal . She also shot 3 horses because they were old.

Cricket was 14 months old for goodness sake and frankly from what I have read this apology for a human being has absolutely no respect for animals. Shot for chasing chickens????????

Whatever happened to letting the dog go to an animal centre where it could have been loved and cared for with proper training. A puppy is a puppy is a puppy and if she couldn't take the time to train it properly she should have at least let it go to someone who had the time and patience.

Here's a gent who knows about dogs and their spirit and takes on the good bad and the ugly. Just one of many rescue centres in the U.S. I've no doubt.

RE: Deleting my profiles on dating apps and applying for a new job

Yes save your money, then when you meet someone at your new job, you'll have some money to spend on them.
Don't rule it out because when you least expect it, someone walks into your life.
I had completely given up, and some things happened.
My neighbor passed away a few months ago and her family sold her house...to a very nice man. We just happened to be outside at the same time and he came over and caught me just as I was getting in my car. He shook my hand and introduced himself. He didn't let go very quickly, and it had been a long time since I had a man hold my hand. He was very nice so we talked, I really enjoyed his company.
So it can happen, just be nice to the ladies.

If you’re talking about Bumble they got sued for favoring the women. I got a message from a man on that one when we matched so I asked him about it and that’s what he told me. I said hey you messaged me first?? He said yeah you didn’t hear Bumble was sued for that I guess. I said no I didn’t.

It doesn’t bother me any. If I matched with them then it’s fine, they can talk to me first if they want.

I’m finding that online dating is becoming a thing of the past. It’s only for people that want quick hookups now.

For a pol to write about having removed such a critter from the gene pool is a good way to remove oneself from the Veep pool ... foot in mouth

It raises legitimate questions about the pol's judgement / political instincts.

Maybe I was left out the same way it was left out when the initial story became public, the details were very clear initially, but only after a public outcry did the suggestion the dog (a puppy) attacked livestock.

Anyone who works with hunting dogs knows they are very boisterous and require a firm hand, it is normal with most breeds of hunting dogs.

There has never been a dog in existence that cannot be trained with the right approach.

Why leave that part out? Because you can't be fair and give more of a detailed story behind it all because she's a Republican, and pro Trump!thumbs down

A friend had an old Mazda Miata in need of repair. Someone wanted it to restore and made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

The Prius is on my wish list to try out.
I've seen a video about the Toyota Venza and the guy doing the review stated it's very similar to a Lexus NX. Both are out of my price range.

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

John knew that we would never find in ourselves the faithfulness God requires. Instead, we have to place complete trust in the work and grace of God, believing that He will certainly conform us to the image of His Son, Jesus. That sense of being grounded in God only comes when we set aside our sin in the pursuit of the one true God. Or, in the words of John, “if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us” (1 John 4:12).

Once you go black...

I'm aware of car depreciation...
I used to do project management and would drive 30,000 miles per year, so changing cars every 3 to 4 years became normal. I never needed a mechanic as the cars were traded just before the problems started to happen.

I've said this a bunch of times... the Toyota Celica was my favorite car. I changed jobs close to home so my mileage dropped. I did beat that car up daily and I don't remember it stranding me on the side of the road. There was a mechanic who specialized in Honda & Toyota around the corner from the wood shop, so he did the brakes, clutch, rebuilt a/c and routine maintenance. After 220,000 miles, it was time for another car.

I traded my Corolla Hatchback at 3 years and 45,000 miles. It was starting to develop some vibration issues more than a year after a truck in front of me blew a recapped tire recap and the shredded tire went under the front of my car and tore out the bumper and skirting around the wheel well.
Used car prices were had peaked and it was the best time to trade.

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

Fight for the truth! Stand up against error! The book of Jude is the very definition of punchy and pithy proclamations—with its short commands and statements popping off the page like machine-gun fire. But in our day and age, punchy has become rude or unacceptable. In many circles the forcefulness of Jude will not be tolerated, the crowds preferring a softer and gentler side of the Christian faith. But Jude reminds us that there is a time and a place for the aggressive protection of the truth from those who would seek to tear it down.

How can you participate in defending the truth from error?

RE: What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

Who wrote the book of Jude??
Like most of the other general epistles, the title of this little book takes its name from its author. Most scholars identify the writer as Jude the half-brother of Jesus for at least two reasons. First, he identified himself as the “brother of James” (Jude 1:1), meaning he was probably not the apostle named Jude, a man who was called “the son of James” (Luke 6:16). That the author of the book of Jude identified himself as the brother of James likely aligns him with the family of Jesus. (See “Who Wrote the Book” on the page about James for more information.) Second, Matthew 13:55 records the names of the brothers of Jesus as James and Judas. Whereas the gospels record his name as Judas, English translations shorten it to Jude—probably for the same reason no one in the present day wants to name a child Judas, because of the association it has with Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Jesus.

Like his older brother James, Jude did not place his faith in Jesus while the Lord was still alive. Only after the crucifixion and resurrection did the scales fall from Jude’s eyes and he become a follower of his half-brother, Jesus. First Corinthians 9:5 offers a tantalizing piece of information, noting that the Lord’s brothers and their wives took missionary journeys. From this scant portrait, we begin to picture Jude as a man who lived in skepticism for a time but eventually came to a powerful faith in Jesus. And as he traveled on behalf of the gospel—telling the story in city after city with his name Judas butting up against that of Judas Iscariot—he would stand as a living example of faithfulness, a stark contrast to the betrayer.

Where are we?

The book of Jude is notoriously difficult to date, primarily because the Bible and tradition reveal so little about the personal details of its author while the book itself refrains from naming any particular individuals or places. The one clue available to present-day readers is the striking similarity between the books of Jude and 2 Peter. Assuming Peter wrote his letter first (AD 64–66), Jude probably wrote his epistle sometime between AD 67 and 80.

Why is Jude so important?

Jude’s edgy brevity communicates the urgency of his notion that false teachers needed to be condemned and removed from the church. Few words meant that Jude would not waste space dancing around the issue. He saw within the church people and practices that were worthy of condemnation, including rejecting authority and seeking to please themselves. In response to these errors, Jude marshaled much biblical imagery to make clear what he thought of it all—anything from Cain killing his brother Abel to the punishment of the sinful people who populated Sodom and Gomorrah (Jude 1:7, 11).

What's the big idea?

Jude’s purpose in his letter was twofold: he wanted to expose the false teachers that had infiltrated the Christian community, and he wanted to encourage Christians to stand firm in the faith and fight for the truth. Jude recognized that false teachers often peddled their wares unnoticed by the faithful, so he worked to heighten the awareness of the believers by describing in vivid detail how terrible dissenters actually were. But more than simply raising awareness, Jude thought it important that believers stand against those working against Jesus Christ. Believers were to do this by remembering the teaching of the apostles, building each other up in the faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, and keeping themselves in the love of God (Jude 1:17, 20–21).

How do I apply this?

View Blog

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

The Book of Jude

Letter of Jude, brief New Testament letter written to a general Christian audience. Although the epistle claims to have been written by St. Jude the Apostle, “a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James” (1:1), the author’s identity is uncertain. The cultivated Greek style is notable for numerous figures of speech and references to both the Old and New Testaments and to other sources. References to apocryphal literature, however, may have contributed to a 3rd-century dispute about the letter’s authenticity, but its canonical status in the early church is nonetheless well attested. The letter was probably composed, at an unknown place, during the first quarter of the 2nd century and before the Second Letter of Peter, which draws upon it. It is the 26th book of the New Testament canon.

The letter appeals to Christians to “contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints” (1:3) and to be on their guard against people “who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ” (1:4). The author struggles forcefully against heretics who deny God and Christ, and attempts to strengthen his readers in their fight against such heresy that leads to wickedness and disorder. Libertines is a characteristic of such heresy, and he warns that the punishment of the heretics will be similar to that which befell the unfaithful in the Old Testament patriarchal times. Only steadfastness in faith, true doctrine, and prayer can lead to mercy, forgiveness, restoration, and final salvation. An attempt to bring the erring to repentance may save them. The letter concludes with a typical doxology.
