RELIGION. A WASTE OF TIME.

Religions have existed for thousands of years, when people searched for answers to the meaning of life.
They can be likened to the, 'Chinese whisper,' which illustrates the unreliability of hearsay.
How many religions have been created in recent times? None. Why, because most people have become intelligent and search for scientific evidence of our existence, or realise that we control our own destiny and cannot rely on any deity.

RELIGION. A WASTE OF TIME.

Why do you need a religion to tell you to be nice to each other? If you're choosing to be nice in order to get a reward, which religion offers, then the nice attitude is surely false. If the reward is everlasting life in some fantasy world, which again is a religious promise, then to behave in the required manner in order to achieve that, is again a false way of life.

The damage is mass-production and the truly evil things that happen behind our favourite food-stuffs. Hundreds of pigs in small cages hosed down twice a day from overhead pipes, measured food at the press of a button, ready for slaughter when the cage can no longer confine them. Beef cows chained in circles around a central feeder. Dairy cows stepping on their own vastly-inflated udders, which drag on the ground. Battery hens living under lights which create shorter days so they lay more often. Crops growing in chemical dust because the ground beneath is long since exhausted.

I have no idea how to solve the needs of a vast international population without doing all this earth-killing stuff dunno I buy organic where and when I can but maybe we should start eating each other? wow we could start with those cruellest to the animals in their care laugh

RE: RELIGION. A WASTE OF TIME.

What does fascination with politics achieve? It provides no help to individuals, but leads them to a false hope of better things to come, so long as they adhere to the specific doctrines. Conflict in different beliefs creates wars and bitterness. It is used as a tool to control people and inflict punishment if rules not obeyed.
It preys on vulnerable people who are easily manipulated to believe what they are told.

We're rather stupid, we humans. But we seem to need to believe in something. Being given a code of communal behaviour which urges us to be nicer kinder more loving and supportive of our community and more understanding is not a bad thing. Religions (and politics) which urge us to hate anyone who doesn't believe as we do are also human-driven.

Belief in something uplifting is pretty cool. Blind belief in exceedingly flawed individuals is our downfall.

Think.

If it is such a waste of time and energy why 99% of the world population practice some form of cultural religion since the dawn of man?

If religion was not important for those who need or want it they wouldn't be practicing it.

The only contradiction about it is if some claim they are a religion of peace and goodwill but, have to kill others to convince them then yes ìts time to re evaluate the values of given religion. professor

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

In this book, the people of Israel tested God’s patience, and He in turn tested their endurance and faithfulness. Though the people failed many times, God showed His own faithfulness by His constant presence leading the way: through a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.

More than just a history lesson, the book of Numbers reveals how God reminded Israel that He does not tolerate rebellion, complaining, and disbelief without invoking consequences. He taught His people how to walk with Him—not just with their feet through the wilderness but with their mouths in worship, hands in service, and lives as witnesses to the surrounding nations. He was their God, they were His people, and He expected them to act like it.

How do I apply this?

Modern readers can take away from Numbers not only a thorough history of Israel’s early days but also a renewed sense of God’s delight in obedience. He is our God, too, and He wants us to live righteously, worshipping Him through our words and works.

The journey of the Israelites through the wilderness earned the apostle Paul’s notice when he penned his first letter to the Corinthian church. “These things happened,” he wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:6, “as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved.”

Do you see any resemblance between the grumbling, rebellious Israelites and yourself? How can you avoid following their example? With humility and sincerity, pray for a soft heart, open to God’s guiding hand.

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

Who wrote the book of Numbers?
As it does for the rest of the Pentateuch, universal Jewish and Christian tradition attributes the authorship of the book of Numbers to Moses. Moses is the central figure within the book, and in at least two instances Numbers mentions him recording events by the Lord’s commands (Numbers 33:2; 36:13).

The name “Numbers” is a translation of Arithmoi, from the Septuagint, titled thus because the book contains many statistics, population counts, tribal and priestly figures, and other numerical data. The Hebrew name comes from the first sentence of the book and means “in the desert of ”; it is perhaps an even more accurate description of the book’s content, which follows the Israelites through almost forty years of wandering in the desert.1

Where are we?

The events of the book began in the second year after the Israelites departed Egypt, as they camped at Mount Sinai around 1444 BC (Numbers 1:1). The narrative ends thirty-eight years later “in the plains of Moab by the Jordan opposite Jericho” (36:13) in 1406 BC. Numbers records the people’s long wandering in the desert of Sinai, their time at the oasis of Kadesh-barnea, and their eventual arrival at the banks of the Jordan River across from the Promised Land.

The Lord directed the message of Numbers toward the younger generation, children of the former slaves who escaped through the Red Sea. Except for Joshua, Caleb, and Moses, the older generation—everyone twenty years old or older at the time of the first census—died before the completion of Numbers, due to their disobedience and disbelief (Numbers 14:22–30). Moses completed the book before his death (Deuteronomy 31:24).

Why is Numbers so important?
Numbers takes the reader on a long and winding path through a desert of excruciating detail. The book records census results for all twelve tribes not once, but twice; it documents priestly instructions for handling the Ark of the Covenant and the tabernacle; and it even spells out the placement of the tribes when they camped. But through it all, we cannot doubt God’s unfailing direction over the nation.

As a history of the nation not yet established in the land promised them long ago, this book unveils significant events sometimes referenced later in Scripture. Joshua and Caleb alone among the twelve spies encouraged Israel to take possession of the land (Numbers 13–14; Joshua 14:7); Moses struck a rock and water spouted forth (Numbers 20:11; Psalm 106:32); Moses lifted up a bronze serpent on a pole so that believing Israelites might be healed of their snake bites (Numbers 21:6–9; John 3:14); and Balaam was rebuked by his donkey (Numbers 22:21–34; Revelation 2:14).

RE: RFK Jr's brain...

according to Doctors!

How do you get brain worms?

When people ingest microscopic tapeworm eggs, they hatch and become larvae that can infest various organs including the brain, muscles, liver and other tissues.

"The way this typically would happen is you have the parasite eggs in feces and then you're having food or water — your hands are contaminated with that — and that's how you end up with that," Gounder said.

Kennedy said in a 2012 deposition that a parasitic worm "ate a portion" of his brain and may have caused cognitive issues, according to a New York Times report. But these parasites don't "eat to your brain," Gounder said.

"The most likely one that he would have is a pork tapeworm-related cyst, and those generally will stay in place. They might grow, cause inflammation or swelling, and that's how you get symptoms — but they're not eating your brain," she said.

Brain worm symptoms

Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, headaches and seizures, Gounder said, although many people who suffer from this type of infection may not see symptoms.

Treatment for tapeworm infection typically involves medications such as anti-parasitic drugs to kill the worms. In some cases, if the worm dies, the body's immune system may clear the dead worm from the brain tissue without requiring surgery, unless complications arise. Kennedy told the Times that no treatment was necessary for his parasitic condition.

Gounder said usually these parasites get "walled off by your immune system and they get calcified."

"So for most people, they probably don't even know they have this," she said. "It's only when they develop symptoms like seizures or headaches. Or maybe incidentally, it's picked up on a scan that you're having for some other reason."

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

Date of Writing: The Book of Leviticus was written between 1440 and 1400 B.C.

Purpose of Writing: Because the Israelites had been held captive in Egypt for 400 years, the concept of God had been distorted by the polytheistic, pagan Egyptians. The purpose of Leviticus is to provide instruction and laws to guide a sinful, yet redeemed people in their relationship with a holy God. There is an emphasis in Leviticus on the need for personal holiness in response to a holy God. Sin must be atoned for through the offering of proper sacrifices (chapters 8-10). Other topics covered in the book are diets (clean and unclean foods), childbirth, and diseases which are carefully regulated (chapters 11-15). Chapter 16 describes the Day of Atonement when an annual sacrifice is made for the cumulative sin of the people. Furthermore, the people of God are to be circumspect in their personal, moral, and social living, in contrast to the then-current practices of the heathen roundabout them (chapters 17-22).

Key Verses:
Leviticus 1:4, "He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him."

Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life."

Leviticus 19:18, "'Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD."

Brief Summary: Chapters 1–7 outline the offerings required of both the laity and the priesthood. Chapters 8–10 describe the consecration of Aaron and his sons to the priesthood. Chapters 11–16 are the prescriptions for various types of uncleanness. The final 10 chapters are God’s guidelines to His people for practical holiness. Various feasts were instituted in the people’s worship of God, convened and practiced according to God’s laws. Blessings or curses would accompany either the keeping or neglect of God’s commandments (chapter 26). Vows to the Lord are covered in chapter 27.

The primary theme of Leviticus is holiness. God’s demand for holiness in His people is based on His own holy nature. A corresponding theme is that of atonement. Holiness must be maintained before God, and holiness can only be attained through a proper atonement.

Foreshadowings: Much of the ritualistic practices of worship picture in many ways the person and work of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10 tells us that the Mosaic Law is “only a shadow of the good things that are coming” by which is meant that the daily sacrifices offered by the priests for the sin of the people were a representation of the ultimate Sacrifice—Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice would be once for all time for those who would believe in Him. The holiness imparted temporarily by the Law would one day be replaced by the absolute attainment of holiness when Christians exchanged their sin for the righteousness of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Practical Application: God takes His holiness very seriously, and so should we. The trend in the postmodern church is to create God in our own image, giving Him the attributes we would like Him to have instead of the ones His Word describes. God’s utter holiness, His transcendent splendor, and His “unapproachable light” (1 Timothy 6:16) are foreign concepts to many Christians. We are called to walk in the Light and to put away the darkness in our lives so that we may be pleasing in His sight. A holy God cannot tolerate blatant, unashamed sin in His people and His holiness requires Him to punish it. We dare not be flippant in our attitudes toward sin or God’s loathing of it, nor should we make light of it in any way.

Praise the Lord that because of Jesus’ death on our behalf, we no longer have to offer animal sacrifices. Leviticus is all about substitution. The death of the animals was a substitute penalty for those who have sinned.

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

God graciously provides a way for people to live in his presence.
God desires to live with Israel, but even Moses is unable to enter the Tabernacle. How can Israel, with all their moral corruption, become God’s covenant partners to bless the nations? Leviticus answers this question in three surprising ways.

The Tabernacle

God made a covenant with Israel and brought his own presence to dwell with them. However, Israel cannot enter his presence because of their corruption. In response, God introduces a set of sacrifices, the priesthood, and purity laws in the book of Leviticus.

Through sacrifice, God made a way for both praise and forgiveness. The ritual sacrifices and feasts allowed Israel to remember and relate to God as his people. In order to represent the people to God and God to the people, God institutes the priesthood, a royal responsibility for Aaron and his sons (who learn the hard way to respect their calling!). God also introduces ritual and moral purity laws to help Israel see how God’s holiness affects every part of life.

The book of Leviticus concludes with a call to covenant faithfulness. Despite the sin and impurity of Israel, God made a way for sin to be covered, allowing Israel to live near God.

What Makes Jesus Unique? No one else made the claims that He did, He is alive...............

The book of Leviticus;
Leviticus is the third book of the Bible, and it flows directly out of the events in the previous book of Exodus. Israel has been freed from slavery in Egypt, and they’ve gathered at the foot of Mount Sinai to enter into a covenant relationship with God. However, as soon as they agreed to the relationship, they rebelled and violated the foundational terms of the covenant. God had wanted his glorious presence to dwell in the midst of Israel within the tabernacle, but their sin damaged the relationship so that even Moses, Israel’s representative, was unable to enter the tent.

Old Testament Overviews

Who Wrote the Book of Leviticus?
Many Jewish and Christian traditions hold that Moses is the author of Leviticus. However, authorship is not explicitly stated within the book.

The events described in Leviticus take place on the Sinai Peninsula, primarily when Israel is camped at Mount Sinai.

Literary Styles
The book of Leviticus is written as narrative and contains occasional poetic and discourse sections.

Key Themes
God’s care for the poor, vulnerable, and mistreated
Faithfulness to the covenant
Remembrance of who God was and is
God’s requirements for the Israelites to be holy so that he might dwell in their midst
Structure
The structure of Leviticus is divided into three parts. Chapters 1-7 explain five types of ritual sacrifices, 8-15 detail priestly qualifications and ritual purity, and 16-27 outline annual feasts, moral goodness, and Israel’s covenant faithfulness.

Leviticus Overview: A Holy God and a Rebellious People
The book of Leviticus opens by immediately reminding us of this problem: “The Lord called to Moses from the tent”
Leviticus 1:1
). Moses’ inability to enter the tent is an image of the relational rift between God and Israel. How can God’s people, who have proven selfish and rebellious, be reconciled to the holy God? That’s what the book of Leviticus is all about—how God graciously provides a way for sinful, corrupt people to live in his holy presence.

Now, let’s pause for a moment to explore this core idea that God is “holy” because it’s foundational for understanding this biblical book. The word means simply “to be set apart, unique.” And in the Bible, God is set apart from all things because of his unique role as Creator and the author of life itself. God is holy, and when he shows up in person, the space around him also becomes holy and set apart because it’s permeated with God’s life, power, and purity. If Israel wants to live in God’s holy presence, they also need to become holy by dealing with their sin. That’s what the book of Leviticus is all about.

Leviticus has an amazing symmetrical literary design, exploring three main ways that God enables Israel to live in his presence. The outer sections (
Leviticus 1-7, Leviticus 23-25

describe the rituals Israel is to practice in the presence of God’s holiness. The inner sections (
Leviticus 8-10, Leviticus 21-22

) focus on the role of Israel’s priests as mediators between God and Israel. Inside those are two matching sections (
Leviticus 11-15, Leviticus 18-20
that focus on Israel’s purity. At the center of the book
Leviticus 16-17

) is a key ritual, the Day of Atonement, that brings all the themes of the book together. Finally, the book concludes with a section
Leviticus 26-27 where Moses calls Israel to be faithful to the covenant.
