a good love poem 3

Give All To Love

Give all to love;
Obey thy heart;
Friends, kindred, days,
Estate, good-fame,
Plans, credit, and the Muse,-
Nothing refuse.
'Tis a brave master;
Let it have scope:
Follow it utterly,
Hope beyond hope:
High and more high
It dives into noon,
With wing unspent,
Untold intent;
But it is a god,
Knows its own path,
And the outlets of the sky.
It was not for the mean;
It requireth courage stout,
Souls above doubt,
Valor unbending;
It will reward,-
They shall return
More than they were,
And ever ascending.
Leave all for love;
Yet, hear me, yet,
One word more thy heart behoved,
One pulse more of firm endeavor,-
Keep thee today,
To-morrow, forever,
Free as an Arab
Of thy beloved.
Cling with life to the maid;
But when the surprise,
First vague shadow of surmise
Flits across her bosom young
Of a joy apart from thee,
Free be she, fancy-free;
Nor thou detain her vesture's hem,
Nor the palest rose she flung
From her summer diadem.

Though thou loved her as thyself,
As a self of purer clay,
Though her parting dims the day,
Stealing grace from all alive;
Heartily know,
When half-gods go,
The gods arrive.

A Hermeneutic of Poe’s Tell Tale Heart

I happened to read the story since I had to teach it to eight graders. The story belongs to the genre of the Gothic Vintage. The protagonist of the story becomes obsessed with the killing of an old man. The whole story revolves around his pathological mania for killing. The reason for killing is psycho-analytically revealed in the story. The old man has an eye that resembles that of a vulture. The evil eye is haunting the protagonist. The wealth or possessions of the man like Gold does not interest the protagonist. He visits the old man’s house several times in the night and goes through the ecstasy of the thought of butchery. And finally one night he accomplishes the mission. He decapitates the body and buries it in the wooden planks that make the floor of the house. Then Poe brings in the cops who come to house on the pretext of having heard a shriek. The protagonist at first manages to maintain his composure but in the end looses it and spills the beans to the cops that he has liquidated the old man. It’s true that Poe has been characterized as a mad genius and as a tormented artist. The protagonist is suffering from narcissistic, psychotic melancholia. The narcissism is an obsession directed with quirk of violence that shifts the mind from reason to that of passion. The protagonist is going through an intense psychotic phase of psychosis where he is not able to distinguish murder as something diabolic and goes against the Super Ego, the laws of the society. Melancholia is pining for an object that cannot be obtained. Here it becomes a phantasmagoria, the vulture-eye of the old man. The psychotic character is unable to distinguish between fiction and reality. He does not want to take responsibility of the crime and willingly surrenders himself to the police. The psychological build up of psychotic anxiety is a super rendition of art.

poetry

I cling to you

like a bee collecting honey

from his favorite flower

you are my man of the hour,

I cling to you

like the cloud's above us

rolling around and holding

back the rain for you and I

I kneel down and look up to you in the sky

it make me want to cry,

I cling to you

like the warmth of the sun

bring sun shine to every one

it may even make your skin

feel hot to the touch

Oh honey I miss you so much,

I cling to you

like the floor of the open sea

and the different kind of fish swimming around

with out a sound

but you know there

swimming with out a care

I cling to you

like the stars and moon shinning

from the sky

God put them there to light

up the darkest night

oh honey I don't want to let you out of my sight,

I cling to you

like a rose climbing up it very own trellis

to think of this make me so jealous

I want to be close to you one more time

it driving me out of my mind,

I cling to you

stuff

When things seem less important
These things seem to become
Meaningful
Simply because they could be
Forgotten, these things become so cherished

With nothing to gain by time
The limited nature of the
Unimportant is so powerfully simple
The cut and dry slice of bread
Becomes one of the few things that satisfy hunger

A gaze or word
The thoughtfulness
Fleeting brushes of sleeves
Unseen caresses TBD
With Life and Death as our bookends

What could be termed as
Insignificant
I collect these grains of sand
So small, they collect in the creases in my palm
We collect what is unseen and build our sand castles

a good love poem

Love Will Find Out The Way

OVER the mountains
And over the waves,
Under the fountains
And under the graves;
Under floods that are deepest,
Which Neptune obey,
Over rocks that are steepest,
Love will find out the way.

When there is no place
For the glow-worm to lie,
When there is no space
For receipt of a fly;
When the midge dares not venture
Lest herself fast she lay,
If Love come, he will enter
And will find out the way.

You may esteem him
A child for his might;
Or you may deem him
A coward for his flight;
But if she whom Love doth honour
Be conceal'd from the day--
Set a thousand guards upon her,
Love will find out the way.

Some think to lose him
By having him confined;
And some do suppose him,
Poor heart! to be blind;
But if ne'er so close ye wall him,
Do the best that ye may,
Blind Love, if so ye call him,
He will find out his way.

You may train the eagle
To stoop to your fist;
Or you may inveigle
The Phoenix of the east;
The lioness, you may move her
To give over her prey;
But you'll ne'er stop a lover--
He will find out the way.

If the earth it should part him,
He would gallop it o'er;
If the seas should o'erthwart him,
He would swim to the shore;
Should his Love become a swallow,
Through the air to stray,
Love will lend wings to follow,
And will find out the way.

There is no striving
To cross his intent;
There is no contriving
His plots to prevent;
But if once the message greet him
That his True Love doth stay,
If Death should come and meet him,
Love will find out the way!

Flash Fiction #2. The Appointment

Ainsley Goosebutt had to rush home from work on the Friday if he wasn’t going to be late for his doctor’s appointment. He had a quick shower, made himself a cup of tea and a slice of toast, and was back out of the door within forty minutes.

At the surgery, he took a seat and picked up a magazine to fill the time until his name was called. He didn’t have to wait long. After no more than ten minutes the receptionist ushered him into the consulting room.

“Mister Goosebutt,” said Doctor Hermione Huntington, “please sit down. What can we do for you today?”

“It’s my back,” said Ainsley, “I think I must have strained it; it’s really painful.”

“Could you just stand up and lift your shirt for me,” said the doctor, and proceeded to examine Ainsley’s lower back. “Mmm,” she said. “If you just get undressed and lie on the bench, I think I can do something about that.”

Ainsley stripped down to his underpants and started to climb onto the bench, but no sooner had he lifted one leg onto it than the doctor interrupted him.

“Mister Goosebutt, your underpants.”

Ainsley sheepishly removed his pants and laid face down on the bench, and the doctor began to massage his back. After a few minutes she instructed him to turn over.

“Strange as it sounds," she said, “back pain is very often due to tension in the groin.” She then poured an exotic smelling liquid onto Ainsley’s groin and went about relieving the tension in it. In what seemed like no time at all, Ainsley’s symptoms disappeared and he felt completely free of tension.

“Is that better?” asked doctor Huntington, and Ainsley nodded.

“Same time next week,” enquired the receptionist, when Ainsley emerged from the consulting room.

“Yes,” he replied, “but can I be called in for questioning by Chief Inspector Huntington next time, Please.”
