Dominant Jean...

I've been known to wear clothes until they are rags. Polo shirts for work date back to companies I was with 20 years ago and they don't go to waste as they become cleaning rags for car polishing (note to self, polish car this weekend) but my Jeans are a different story as they have zippers and snap-buttons. It's rare, but when a zipper breaks and I'm not able to repair it, the cost of having a seamstress replace the zipper is usually more than buying a new pair of jeans.
Those Jeans with broken zippers have been placed in clothing donation bins for recycle so someone can decide what to do with them.

When the snap breaks, I've been known to sew on a button, but the stress it too great and the button often comes loose. So, there have been several favorite Jeans of mine, stacked on a chair in the closet that are missing snaps.

Amazon sells replacement snap button kits in 2 different styles.
The first having to punch a hole where the back part gets hammered into the front. The other style uses a small flat screw to attach the button. I chose the one with the screw and it works perfectly!

Now, one of my favorite Jeans is wearable again and it's correct to refer to it as the Dominant Jean.

Thanks for reading my blog...

Long Hair

I’ve been thinking of letting my goatee grow out like this and then braid it.

Rags...

I went through Macy's department store and was amazed to see how many different styles of jeans for women that have the knees already shredded. They aren't cheap either!

Personally, I wear clothes until they are torn... like the ones in my report of the high-efficiency (HE) washing machine that prematurely wears out jeans. I've got a few with the crotch wearing through, but that wasn't from the washing machine.

Side note: I knew a college girl who knew which side of the zipper a guy hung his junk on from the worn spot on his jeans. I'm sure her research was more than their appearance.

There are YouTube videos describing how to take new clothing and cut holes in them with back stitching to keep the shredded look exactly the way you want.

I doubt this fad is going to end anytime soon...

Funny Wedding Stories

A Facebook friend of mine asked if anyone had any funny wedding stories to share. Well I have one. About 15 years ago my friends Al and Monica decided to get married after living together for about 15 years. Al asked me to be a Groomsman. I was honored. Then he had a plan and wanted me to participate in a ruse. Since most of Monica's family had never seen Al, he wanted me to pose as him and whenever the Preacher would ask 'If anyone has any objections let them speak up now or forever hold your peace' Al would step up and have an objection that I shouldn't be saddled with that woman. The preacher agreed and we rehearsed it and the next day when the wedding was happening we pulled it off perfectly to the stunned crowd. I wiped my brow and walked to the Groomsman position and the wedding proceeded. To this day I don't know how so many of Monica's relatives never met Al but it happened and we still joke about it today.

Do any of you have a funny wedding story ?

Washing clothes

Like most of the men and some of the women here I wear clothes till they have too many holes. Usually they have done a good job of capturing body odor by then. So I throw them away and a lot of the odor goes with them. Then I buy new clothes. You can tell the poorer members of CS because they have photos posted without any clothes on. A true mark of poverty and one wonders what kind of person would be attracted to someone so poor they can not afford clothing. Yesterday at the store I heard a rumor.I was thinking some of the poorer men and women here on CS may be interested in this.

A few months ago someone got caught in a rain storm and after his or her clothes dried he realized they didn't stink as much. He experimented and discovered that if he/she intentionally wet them in a bucket, not only does the smell go down, but the water changes color too becoming a dark brown or gray in color. Sometimes with repeated soakings the clothing almost looked new again.

According to the sales clerk I was talking to the store owners are very angry at this person because now, not only are they not giving up money to buy new clothing as often, but some of their friends have started to do the same thing. The practice is called washing. There is worry that if their washing fad catches on it would be a disaster for the clothing industry with many jobs lost as a direct result. There have even been rumours of some kind of washing robot mechanism someone built to automate the clothing wash process.

I present this of mixed mind. The idea of washing seems controversial I know, and I would certainly not want to cause the loss of jobs in such an important industry as the textile industry. However for those men and women on CS who lack enough income to wear clothing or even to buy clothing, perhaps this previously secret process called washing may offer some relief and at least present an illusion that you have income. The next time one of your neighbors throws clothes away because they ranked enough to be discarded, why not rescue and pull them from the trash pile and submit them to a few cycles of the 'wash' process and don them? Then you can proudly post photos of yourself with actual clothing on.

Just imagine how much better life would become for you, if instead of being discouraged by your obvious poverty, a potential suitor saw a profile picture of you in actual clothing and began writing you?

Just a thought to pass the morning away...
