What is up with bands claiming to be punk??

I don't know if it's just me but...er..I know it's not just me who has gotten a bit tired of these bands that try to be punkers. You just can't compare nor try to sound and be like bands like Minor threat or The Ramones (who started the punk sound style of course). Don't get me wrong these grunge puppies make it big and tour making more cash then i'll probably make in a lifetime, so yes they are doing something right. It is just a bunch of garnished and polished rubbish on the radio these days, but You most likely love that stuff and think i'm a dumb arse for my drab opinion.peace

Banner Days

Ever have one of those days where you're really busy and eating seems to be something you cram in on your way to somewhere else? Well, I have lots of those days, but today was exceptional. Of course, what usually happens on those days, is that I don't know what to have for dinner, either.

For some reason, I've lost my appetite completely in the morning, and don't usually eat until about lunch time. Today I was busy getting orders ready, and I was just going to head south without eating at all. Well, after crossing the bridge and realizing I hadn't gotten the postage on one of my Canadian orders, I had to turn around to get the quote and drop off the package back at home. Although most border guards are pretty good, there are two that have been after my a** because they're pissed off that I use the commercial crossing to come home. They've done all kinds of delay tactics with the gate, and now that the gate arms are left up, they've resorted to searching my car. If they were on and I had my own product in the car to mail in Canada, they'd charge me some kind of fee for bringing it back across the border. So I had to ensure there was nothing extra in my car.

While dropping off the parcel at home, so I could email the client with the postage due, I told myself to just make a quick wrap to take with me, and that if I didn't, I'd be gnawing on the steering wheel on the way home.

My orders delivered and errands run, I headed home, with still no idea of what to have for dinner. Once home and scrolling through my fb feed, a recipe for Lime Cilantro Shrimp showed up. Taking a quick look, I had almost everything except the sour cream. Okay, I could do without that.

Well, if that wasn't one of the quickest, easiest and delicious meals I've had in a long time. The shrimp was absolutely delicious and paired with avocado - YUM! Some steamed green beans to go with it, and dinner's served! Took all of about 10 minutes.

My dessert was a 'cleansing cocktail' of ginger, beet, apple and carrots - a deep red concoction which I added more ginger to, loving the flavour of it. I may have added a bit too much, as it had a definite 'bite' to it, but I really enjoyed it. (Is there such a thing as too much ginger?)

I'm always so happy with myself when I don't give in to laziness and make myself healthy meals instead of opting for a fast food option - even if the option is a salad.

So today was a banner day, forcing myself to take the time to make a lunch, and a bonus when the shrimp recipe showed up on my fb feed, and having all the ingredients on hand.

I'm hoping that next Wednesday will be another banner day, showing an additional (at least) 2 lb weight loss. I've lost 8 lbs, and want to be down 2 more when I go see the dr next week.

For whatever reason, I'm really tired tonight and, as my bed seems to be screaming my name, that's where I'm headed, despite the early hour.

Too much paper down the pipe...

It must have been last year when I flushed too much paper (among other things) down the toilet and clogged the entire sewer pipe. I bought a 50 foot plumbing snake and lots of drain cleaning chemicals to get the pipe open again. Doing the work manually took a few hours but the job was done. A few weeks ago the plumbing back-up happened again. I tried for 30 minutes with the snake. Having no luck and not wanting to fight with it, we left Miami for the condo and put off the project for the following weekend.
I decided to rent a 75 foot power feed unit from Home Depot. This thing was pathetically slow and I got about 60 feet into the drain line and it was still clogged. Setting the power feed to retract the coil jammed the mechanism and it would not retract. A call to Home Depot and they told me to wrap the coil as best as I can. I had to pull the coil out by hand (with rubberized gloves) and at the end of the snake was a chunk of 'something' that I originally thought was a clog of hair! Close observation revealed it was thin long roots. There are no trees in the area where the underground pipes travel. I know the old drain pipes are made from clay/pottery in sections about 6 feet long and the joints were sealed with tar. Over the years, the ground settles and water seeps into the soil. That's what attracts roots to grown to the water source and enter the pipes usually cracking them if this goes on for any length of time. So, I knew the reason as the paper (and poo) snagged on it's way to Washington D.C.

Using a few feet of copper wire wrapping I was able to get the coil around the outside of the machine and back to the store. They were nice to allow more time for the rental and gave me another machine that had a power feed at least 10 times faster than the broken one. We got back to the project and this time I added a cutter head attachment that's designed to shave off roots inside the pipe. The company who hires out to clean drains with a drain auger is Roto-Rooter. This is similar only cheaper as I'm doing it myself.

Less than 30 minutes with the new machine cleaned the clog. I ran it back and forth several times to be sure to scrape away as much of the roots as possible.

This weekend I gave it the ultimate 'poo down the pipe' test and all went well.
No worries!

Being lonely kind of sucks..

That feeling you have, when nobody wants to spend time with you. When nobody reaches out to you just to ask "How are you?" That feeling of being lost and alone when everyone else around you and online are in relationships.

Yes - the feeling of being alone, and it sucks - so much!

Who or what do I have? In honest: Not much. I have my video games, my movies, my music and endless scrolling on Tinder/Bumble/OKCupid/other dating apps, random conversations on Twitter/Facebook/Instagram and the occasional message from a few friends.

I want to feel loved as well. I want what other people have, relationship wise. Money doesn't interest me, neither does social status. I just want someone to confide in. Someone to spend hours talking to.

I do try to meet new people, but 99% of the people I meet are scammers. The 1% who aren't scammers, well the conversation dies out pretty quickly. No response on my messages. I once started a conversation with someone, and after a few days, the conversation just.. died.. I didn't say or do anything that warranted the conversation to end, so I am not entirely sure why it ended. Maybe she decided that it wasn't really going anywhere? Or maybe she just decided "nah, not for me.."

At this rate, I am absolutely sure that I will end up alone forever. It's a bit of a frightening thought, because I am the type of person that just want to find someone to settle down with.

Animal Farm...The Trump Era

For your viewing pleasure...George Orwell's Animal Farm novella on video...Stephen King recognised the novella as a story about a political uprising of farm occupants much like the political rise of the Trump era in America regarding the working class...but careful what you wish for...there is a down ward spiral in regards to the treatment and collective equality on the farm...as they spiral into the abyss...truth is non-existent and power is the new king...submission to such demagoguery is paramount...in the end...the farm animals could no longer recognise the pigs from farmers or the farmers from the pigs...
