Double standards are principles that are viewed as acceptable for use by one group of people, but are considered unacceptable and taboo, when used by another group. The double standard can be described as biased and unjust because it violates a basic tenet of modern jurisprudence: that all parties must stand on an equal footing before the law.

Just a few more weeks and I´ll be flying to Barbados where my son, and his lovely wife to be, have decided to marry.

They have spent a few wonderful holidays there in the past and decided it would be the ideal location for their wedding.

For me, it will be my first holiday this year after non stop work, so not only am I looking forward to the wedding, but also to two weeks in the Caribbean sunshine.

The nightmare of course, as all the ladies will understand, has been deciding what to wear! A beach wedding is informal, and the normal mother of the groom attire just doesn´t work. However, I think I have finally got together the outfit. A black, sleeveless, maxi dress sprinkled with pink and predominantly orange Japanese flowers. I have a tiny orange plume for my hair, an orange silk wrap, and very pretty, pink and orange flower flip flops. (no killer heels in the sand!).

The flight from London to Barbados is at 5.50 am, and I live in Spain, so I will fly from here to London arriving at 23.30, the latest flight available. I´ll be sleeping in the airport for a few hours unfortunately.

So far, in the circle of friends, clients and coworkers it is. I'm starting to see more folks wearing masks in public places, especially grocery and department stores.

I live in Palm Beach County and sewage water testing for coronavirus is higher than last year and after months of declining vaccinations, it's reported people have started again. Yeah, it appears they check poop for virus.

South Florida has tourism and people coming here for the winter, so we get an influx of travelers. I went on a sales call to see clients after they returned from vacation... I waited a few days to book the appointment just to be sure they didn't get sick along the way and pass it around as another stop was to a client who recently had a newborn.
I'm considering masking-up when I meet new clients.

It’s possible to contract a respiratory condition, colloquially referred to as hot-tub lung.


It’s triggered by microbes called mycobacteria, from the same family as those which cause the infection tuberculosis (TB).


Like in TB, hot-tub lung bacteria generate patches of inflammation in the lung tissue. This results in symptoms such as shortness of breath, cough and fever. The lung changes can be seen on an X-ray or CT scan of the chest, and may appear quite profound.


The hot tub acts as a perfect environment for the growth of these bacteria because the warmth of the system creates an optimum temperature for their proliferation. The bubbling of the water also acts as an aerosol – allowing the bacteria to be released into the air, where they can be inhaled.


Unlike TB, which requires long-term antibiotics and is becoming increasingly difficult to treat, hot-tub lung may be considered more of an inflammatory condition.
