What Shi did...

Shi (that woman) may turn out to be the st up idist woman since Pandora. It is possible she may have created a human ELE. In a few thousand years at most someone will know.

What am I talking about?

Let's start with this reporter's question to US President Trump on 4/15/2020.

No what Dr. Shi did was a little worse than that. Watch the first half hour of this to learn about the most stupid thing any human has ever done.

monkeys, cats, dogs, cattle, humans, nothing is immune. And as South Korea has reported it mutates too. South Korea advised a day ago that they now have 116 people who were infected with Covid19 in January and were cured and released, but now they are back in the hospital infected again with a new variant of the Covid19 virus.

ELE = Extinction Level Event.
Thank you Dr. Chi

cytokine storm... don't call the weatherman about this one!

Two weeks ago, I did a blog with links to videos from Dr. Duc Vuong who who gave excellent examples of how the respiratory system is compromised by the COVID-19 virus.
In it, he describes what happens when an infection is in the lungs and the immune system over reacts causing inflammation that clogs the airways and the lungs can no longer absorb oxygen. This is called a Cytokine release syndrome (CRS) or Cytokine Storm.
In an attempt to get more oxygen into the lungs, patients are put on invasive ventilators.
Dr. Vuong stated the death rate of those on ventilators is 80% and he says Isolation to lower the risk is the first line of defense from getting the virus. At an 80% death rate of those on ventilators, there must be a better way to treat patients.

A story came to light of an Emergency Room doctor in Seattle who contacted COVID-19. At the age of 44 he was admitted into his own hospital. "... fever, cough and difficulty breathing, he was placed on a ventilator. Five days after that, his lungs and kidneys were failing, his heart was in trouble, and doctors figured he had a day or so to live."
He was moved to another Seattle hospital who had a Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) where tubes were placed in his heart/veins and the machine replaced the function of the lungs by oxygenating his blood outside his body.
His team of doctors believed it wasn't the virus that was killing him, it was immune system. They tried the drug Actemra, designed to treat rheumatoid arthritis. In 2017 it was approved to treat cytokine storms in cancer patients.
"...after four days on the immunosuppressive drug, supplemented by high-dose vitamin C and other therapies, the level of oxygen in Padgett's blood improved dramatically. On March 23, doctors were able to take him off life support. Four days later, they removed his breathing tube."

It appears the key to survival is repressing the respiratory inflammation and riding out the cytokine storm!

BCG (the TB inoculation) could be an answer

Most of us were inoculated against TB at birth - the BCG shot gave us a very mild and modified version of tuberculosis which our immune systems cured pretty promptly, leaving us with up to 15 years of protection.

In some countries TB remains a recurring problem and booster shots are required to top up that immunity. Africa, very much so, where it remains the leading cause of death. Countries like India, China, Portugal, Greenland, have higher incidences of it. Because BCG is a deliberate infection, it carries a slight risk in itself and also quite a painful jab to have, so since the 70s most countries have chosen only the birth shot, to protect children. The US, at very low risk of TB, chose a good while back to not inoculate at all.

The WHO is currently investigating the link between inoculation and the spread of the virus. It looks as though BCG - an inoculation which is cheap, plentiful and has been in use for 100 years - may be a key player in this war. Look at their TB map compared to the virus map I downloaded yesterday. You can see why they'd be interested.

Fauci... listen up!

Last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci said people who recover from the coronavirus will likely be immune should a second wave of infection spread in the early fall. The statement was based on a belief the virus has not mutated much and that people who develop immunity will likely maintain it at least for the next few months.

That was last week. News is out this week that some coronavirus patients who recovered have tested positive again. One story I read called it reactivation and not reinfection saying remnants of the virus could still be in the patients system, but they are not infectious or a host to infect others.

This something to consider especially for workers who are returning to their jobs weeks later and infecting others.

DIY Ventilators...

I've done a few blogs about medical ventilators and my research continues. Trying to find a listed price for one is like getting a quote on a used car. They want your information before making an offer. Lots of models and lots of options. I did see a wide range for new premium machines listed in the range of $25,000 to $50,000.

The purpose of a ventilator is to pump oxygen/air into the patients lungs where they are unable to do it on their own. Typically, in the case of pneumonia, the air sacs (alvelous) are swollen, filled with fluids and unable to remove carbon dioxide and exchange with oxygen.

Bring on the tube... Intubation is a standard procedure where a tube is place down the throat into the esophagus. The patient is sedated under general anesthesia and given a muscle relaxer.

All procedures have risks. hear that? ALL PROCEDURES HAVE RISKS!!
When air is forced into fluid filled lungs there is damage to the air sacs and soft tissues of the lungs. In the case of respiratory virus that plays a part of the damage, more damage occurs from pneumonia and additional damage is caused by the ventilator.

Part of the ventilators function is to monitor pressure, oxygen & carbon dioxide exchange, breathing rate, temperature. I cringed hearing that GM is slated to make ventilators. I cringed again when Tesla got into ventilator prototyping using the control computer from the model 3. They are going against companies who have been making and refining dedicated medical products for many years. Ventilator start-up ventures could have disastrous results.

The story I read today takes the prize.
Mississippi doctor uses garden hose, lamp timer and electronic valve to create makeshift ventilators

I won't go into too much detail, but a pediatric anesthesiologist Dr. Charles Robertson from the University of Mississippi Medical Center has made a ventilator with supplies from a hardware store.
Less than $100 using a garden hose, lamp timer and electronic valve, he can build a ventilator in 20 to 30 minutes!

According to the doctor "The brain behind the thing is actually a lamp timer"

Most of the reviews have been positive, but I can't get around that no one mentioned (or did they forget) anything used in a hospital needs to have FDA approval.

Me thinks the doctor's been watching too many episodes of MacGyver.

I actually found a Chinese based medical equipment company who produce ICU ventilators at a rate of 300 per year and can get one out to you in 10 days after payment.

This must be similar to the $25,000 model.

For the record... DIY means Do It Yourself

VIRUS -A bad 4 letter word

WoW...Not only have I seen so much info. but TRump seems to inject his feelings, repeats everything he says. & twists the facts to "as he sees" them. He has no concern for what the experts say.... but show some class & be more accurate with his speeches, & be much more, considerate.

Another vaccine enters human trials. This one backed by Bill & Melissa Gates

This one is based on a DNA plasmid.

The first one happened in mid-March in Seattle, which more likely was protein based.

From The Hill;

And hopefully there will be another one available sooner.
For instance, the Canadian one was in the lead, but I haven't seen anything on this recently.
Perhaps results are not ready yet.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse

A person in a position of authority who shall remain nameless, has stated that with warmer weather this Covid 19 virus will die out and we can all gather for celebrating the Easter holiday. Unfortunately, this ill conceived idea/plan, overlooked another thing which arrives with warmer weather, namely,
MOSQUITOES.
"Diseases transmitted by mosquitoes include malaria, dengue, West Nile virus, chikungunya, yellow fever, filariasis, tularemia, dirofilariasis, Japanese encephalitis, Saint Louis encephalitis, Western equine encephalitis, Eastern equine encephalitis, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, Ross River fever, Barmah Forest fever."

Is there any reason to believe Covid 19 wont hitch a ride on a Mosquito?
