Vietnam writer Nguyen Quang Lap 'arrested over blo

A lot of internal debate on my part as to if this should go to CS CE Forums or Blog. Decided on Blog because it is about a blog.

All of us should recognize there are limits on the freedom of speech in many countries, not just the one cited above/below. Here on CS a few years ago we saw someone from a mid eastern country lose access when she criticized some things there.

"An award-winning Vietnamese writer has been arrested, reportedly for publishing criticism of the Communist government on his blog.

Nguyen Quang Lap was taken into custody after police searched his home in the city of Ho Chi Minh on Saturday.

His wife and his brother said police had accused him of publishing articles that went against the authorities.

Mr Lap is the second prominent blogger to have been detained recently, in an apparently renewed attack on dissent.

Last week, police in Ho Chi Minh took blogger Hong Le Tho, 65, into custody on charges of anti-state activity.

Unlike many bloggers detained in the past, Mr Lap is part of the mainstream of Vietnamese literature, regularly appearing on state media and winning state-backed prizes.

His blog serves as a platform where he and his friends express sometimes critical views about Vietnam.

The one-party state is often criticised by rights groups for its intolerance of dissent.

Protests are rare in Vietnam and the mainstream media are state-run and heavily regulated.

However, the internet has emerged as a forum for criticising the authorities.

The press freedom group, Reporters without Borders, says Vietnam has 34 bloggers in prison."

I am VERY embarrased to admit this.

I never ever in my life thought that I would blog the following words. wow
Indeed, this is NOT something I am proud of at all. blushing
The ill-gotten goods were not without there being risk involved. uh oh

While I know that some women fall for those bad boy types, scold
I assure you, that I didn't do it for that reason.
This was totally out of character.

I really don't want to go to jail. crying
But, I have to confess to someone, as the guilt is bothering me. uh oh

Yesterday, I robbed a bank. crying
Yes, this is for real. I really did it. blushing

And despite the guilt,
and the fact that their name is all over it,
.
.

I am NOT giving their pen back to them.tongue

A.I. Robotics

First off I just want to say hi to my old friends on here wave

I was reading some comments about artificial intelligence in the forums, and I thought I would blog about it. I want to see what people really think about it. Do you think it's a good thing with having robots with the capacity to think for themselves and be able to walk around us?
The idea of A.I. has been with us for a while, and up until recently, the one man who could put a halt to it was professor Hawkins. I agree with this man as I have for a number of years, have feared that some day in my lifetime, we will have walking talking androids. I'm a big fan of science fiction, but ever since the movie Blade Runner, I knew then, that if we had the capacity to make robots with A.I. that we could be in serious trouble. And when thinking about it, I think that certain sci-fi movies have been warning us about the dangers. There is one movie that I want to see when it comes out, Ex Machina. Check it out on youtube as I think it will be quite a thought provoking movie.
Here is a photo of one of the Japanese Geminoids. Very lifelike with only partial intelligence.
So my questions to you all, do you think we will reach the technology of creating the ultimate A.I. Robot, and do you think it's a good thing?

More?... What's going on? All in the name of LOVE?

I'm not understanding all of this, what in the world is going on?... this is just too much without cause or explanation, because all go down before being captured as either police-suicide or self inflicted suicide. Why are so many white men involved in mass murders?... there were about three I think last week, and many of these shootings are of innocent people who know nothing about the shooter, nor does the shooters know the people, in other shootings, the shooters kills everyone involved with their intended victim, how insane can this be? This doesn't make sense to me at all, so we have more murders added to the stats of mass killings this year and within the past six months... so very sad...sad flower

West Virginia State Police launched a manhunt Monday for the suspect in three shootings that left four people dead in the north-central part of the state.

Two of the shootings happened in the Westover area and the other was in the Cheat Lake area in Monongalia County, authorities said.

Monongalia County 911 director Mike Wolfe identified the suspect as Jody Lee Hunt, 39, of Westover. Hunt is believed to be driving a black 2011 Ford F-150 with a West Virginia registration OLK 303. The words "Rough Country" are written on the back window, state police said.

"We ask that everyone stay vigilant and use their discretion about whether they should leave their homes," Wolfe said.

Hunt was described as 5-foot-9 and weighing about 165 pounds with green eyes, West Virginia State Police said. Authorities were advising anyone who has information to contact the Morgantown State Police Detachment at 304-285-3200.

Is the same true for guys?

Comment spotted today on Facebook:

Most men aren't smart enough to realize that the better you make your woman feel about herself, the less available she is for other men.

When you run her down, you make her accessible to anyone she thinks will treat her better.

Guys? true for you too? It has been my experience in the past that the more I boost my guy, the more he believes he's the business - and could pull any woman he wanted doh

Which was a bit irritating. Go find those mythical women, then, bud. Bye!

India - Hanging Girls Not Murdered

New Delhi (CNN) -- An investigation into the deaths of two teenage girls found hanging from a mango tree in northern India has concluded that they committed suicide and that there's no evidence of rape, s*xual assault or murder, according to a report released by India's Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday.

The two girls, who were cousins, were found dead in May in a remote village in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh state.

During the initial stages of the investigation, an autopsy report confirmed the two girls had been raped and strangled.

The teenagers' families filed a complaint accusing a group of men of rape and murder. But forensic reports commissioned by federal investigators subsequently said the girls were not raped, and charges against the men were dropped.

The case caused widespread revulsion in India and beyond, especially after the brutal gang rape of a girl on a public bus in New Delhi in December 2012.

That incident energized activists and women generally, with government officials promising action to ensure that girls and women feel safe.

Law enforcement agency: No male DNA found

The findings of the investigation in the Uttar Pradesh case were outlined at a news conference Thursday.

Kanchan Prasad, a spokeswoman for Central Bureau of Investigation, said they were based on about 40 scientific reports.

Investigators found no stress marks or traces of semen on either of the bodies, and no trace of male DNA was found on the girls' clothes or anywhere on their bodies, she said.

The report will be submitted to Badaun Court next week, she said, and there will be no further investigation by the CBI.

All five of the accused men were released on bail after the decision not to file charges, and they remain on bail. The court will decide whether it will take the case forward.

Lie-detector tests were conducted on the accused and the relatives. While the results of the accused were fine, those of the relatives indicated deception, she said.

A top-level CBI official, who took questions from journalists but declined to be named, said it was "medically proven that it was a suicide."

Forensic experts also had determined that the mango tree from which the girls were found hanging was the easiest in the grove to climb and that the girls would have been able to do so, he said.

Family pressure suggested

Asked about the discrepancy between the initial autopsy and subsequent forensic reports, the official said that the investigators involved in the first autopsy report were not experts and had mistakenly concluded there had been a s*xual assault.

The investigators did not know why the girls had committed suicide but suggested it might be because the elder girl was under pressure from her family over a relationship with a man from a different caste -- who was one of those accused in the case.

"Her family didn't approve of this and she was under pressure. Being an immature girl living in a very conservative part of India, it must have been hard for her," the official said.

It's not known why the younger girl would also have killed herself in this case, but the two cousins were very close, he added.

I am torn between the new findings being true, or wondering if it is a revisionist spin. ???
