Keeping Positive!

It's easy to judge people by association but think on.....you might just be passing up a real Gem just because of your own misinterpretation. Surely the most important thing about life is being Positive and not expecting the the worst. If we do expect the worst then surely we attract it to us as we are already in that ne4gative frame of mind.
Life is not easy, no-one ever said it was! However..it's not rocket science. There will always be a danger that sites like this one will have its' fair share of Cheating, nasty, desperados out to manipulate whoever they can but there are also some really excellent people who are very honest and true. This is a rare chance for people to be Honest and true and meet another who meets their criteria.
Just remember that,
"No act of Kindness, however small, is ever wasted!"
Good luck to all who seek a partner to make a strong team!
May you have many Victories and keep the Love of Humanity Alive! There is no time to be Unkind!
We never know how long we have, Blessings and Respect to All.

The Balance of Power

A statement was made by Lord Acton, a British historian of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries which has perhaps become part of our mindset.

Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

This is an observation that a person’s sense of morality lessens as his or her power increases.

I would like to propose a new statement, which pertains to the social and political environments in which we live.

Power tends to corrupt; corruption empowers .

It is my belief that this world is ruled by an elite group who use corruption with whoever and whatever they can in order to impose their ideas on society and reach their goals. Furthermore I feel that this corruption enables them to gain power and the cycle of , corruption begets power begets corruption, continues.

We have perhaps all had insights into the "I've have been had over" feeling. It may have been in the arena of politics where we felt that we were being manipulated in some way by some "unseen power" or perhaps socially where we have forced to take some action that has not been "becoming" to our dignity or view of life.

Think carefully about situations where you feel that you personally have been taken advantage of or where a group to which you belong has been manouevred or manipulated into an uncomfortable position.

Abuse of Power

Power can be viewed as a commodity. If you have it you can use it if you don't you can't. It follows therefore that the abuse of power is only possible to those who have been empowered or taken it by force.

It's a simple fact that power can only be abused by those who have power. When we examine the political arena we find various types of State Power in existence. These range through liberal-democratic, social-democratic, liberal, authoritarian, etatist, and ideological systems. In my opinion they all have one aspect in common; the manipulation of the majority utilising power, which appears to equate to corruption.

If we look at what are termed " Democratic Systems it may appear in the short term that those in positions of power will acquiesce to the majority view, giving in to public opinion or any vehicle with differing views but the overall movement will always be forward towards their goals and objectives.Short term losses are accepted to gain the longer term advance of their objectives.

Sometimes these "Democratic Systems" not only acknowledge their faults but they offer some kind of "power sharing" in order to consolidate their own power base. Examples could be in community consultation or group exploration. Groups of people are consulted in a gesture to include them in decision making processes with promises of action to be taken. These consultations may take many forms and the only similarity of their forms is that they reach conclusions and take actions which will in the main benefit the objectives of the system and not the aggrieved parties.

Power has corrupted and now corruption empowers and we, the vast majority, find that control of the entire government and political system is taken over by the powerful and corrupt minority.

We now live in a world we are told by one of the most powerful political men in the world

"If you are not with us you are against us"

despite the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and formal recognition by the laws of most nations including The United States with the first ammendment in The Bill of Rights.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Why I get no responses...

Well, I think it's probably because of something I forgot to put in my profile.... to all those lonely women who want me but are afraid to let me know....

I have always wanted to be a lumberjack in B.C. And to put on women's clothing and hang around in bars.

I wear extremely expensive clothes, drive a BMW, skydive, bungee jump, scuba dive, hunt tigers and, and, do cartwheels by special request.

That last part was pure B.S.

So, I hope you realize, was the part before that, plagiarized from Monty Python.

I can operate power tools, drive a standard, change a lightbulb and say a few words in Hindi (like, kuch damm kum karenge). I once scored a hole in one... I think it was at a minigolf course in Virginia beach.

I also have an RRSP. (401k?)

One thing that really gets me

One thing that really gets me is the big people who come into McDonalds everyday and stare at the menu for like 10 minutes and then when it's their turn the say "I'd like a.............." and then they say they need another minute. Then when they finally come up to the register all they want is 2 double cheeseburgers and 1 sweet tea. Personally, that's annoying. They have no need to take up space infront of the registers and then all they want is that. Our menu does not change that drastically, or at all, for them to take 15 minutes to order off the dollar menu. That is just a waste of time and space to me. And they always seem to do it when there's a rush happening.very mad

Mushy Peas or Tapioca Pudding? Part 3

Contd/
On entering we are greeted by what in essence is an enormous open space full of shelves containing every delight available. Somewhere at the back of my mind I can hear the engines of a jumbo jet starting up. Maybe there’s one parked in aisle 39 just waiting for a gap in the checkout queues before it can roll out to take off and disappear into the blue skies heading for Hamburg or Paris or Melbourne.

At a push I am sure that these supermarkets are missing out on a potential market here. Deliveries of our global intake would be made so much easier and just imagine the benefits of being able to fly from your local supermarket to your holiday destination. Last minute shopping would be great and on your return you could pickup a pizza for tea. Is it possible that most of the technology is already in place? One can normally find in excess of 20 or 30 fully computerised checkouts (or are they checkins?) in these gargantuan hangars. Although the internal workings may be suitable and the ‘out of town’ location may be right the lack of runways could cause a slight problem. Perhaps they are just waiting for the advent of VTOL passenger jets to fulfil their potential?

The aroma of freshly baked bread wafts to our nostrils, perhaps a melange of fragrances from the fresh herbs. Other senses are bombarded, with multi coloured displays of special offers, seemingly never ending rows of produce from all over the world, in tins and cartons, boxes and packets our senses are assailed by enticing packaging with logos, phrases and words designed to motivate us to reach out and pluck at least one if not two of the not to be missed products, (BOGOFS perhaps the simplest promotion ever invented).

Let’s turn our attention to one section of goodies, the tinned produce. Tins or cans are a marvellous invention. They enable us to take wonderful fresh produce and process it in a factory and then preserve a portion inside the tin with a use by date of months if not years after it has been cultivated. These tins can then be packaged up into cases, (of 24 normally) and shipped (or planed) to all parts of the world. It can be fun to read the labels and find out the origin of the goods. East Indies, USA, China, Australia even sometimes The UK. We have the whole world represented on the shelves of stores from Southend to Solihull.

Now if you stop and think for just a moment about the labels on the tins it may dawn upon you that they are quite an important element of the tinned produce. The labels serve several purposes.
1. They are designed to enhance the appeal.
2. They provide information about ingredients.
3. They give details of daily consumption values.
4. And perhaps most importantly they identify what the contents are.
As far as I can see there are two types of label. One is intrinsic to the tin, where the tins are actually printed and second is a printed label which is secured to the tin, normally by glue.

Whichever method is used it ensures that the product inside, whether it be baked beans or pacific salmon, is not liable to have an identity crisis. Just imagine if these tins were not labelled. The world would be in pandemonium. We could have gungo peas screaming in anguish next to pilchards which would think they were crabs. Juicy prunes would not know how good they were for regularity and custard would be at a loss to understand their purpose in life.

Russian Bride

So I figure I'm a pretty average fellow. I'm no prize but you could do a lot worse, etc. Frankly, there are a lot of men that have more to offer than I do. The one thing I do have to offer is a green card! Yes, you too can obtain that ever elusive permanent residency to the United States for the low low price of your dignity. Its a mutually beneficial deal. I'm lonely, you want to live here. You will be required to provide your own transportation to the United States.

Prior to marriage, you will be required to sign a prenuptial agreement. Don't get the wrong idea, I'm not a wealthy man, not even rich; most likely I'm below average for men of my age. Its just that after you receive your green card and subsequently file for divorce, if I have to give up half, then I'm screwed.

The Fine Print:

This is an open ended contract as there is no timeline for Immigration and Naturalization to use to determine which marriages are out of "love" and which are to obtain immigration status. During the term of our marriage, you will be expected to appear as if you respect and love me. Consummation of marriage will take place within 3 hrs of conclusion of ceremony. Further "marital activities" shall be performed at the husband's (hereafter referred to as "the Citizen") discretion. You will also be expected to maintain your physical appearence to your best ability, at your expense.

Any deviation from these conditions may be considered a breach of contract and could result in your immediate deportation.

Tooth Whitening

From the Daily Mail's online site today

Tooth whitening kits can be bad for your health

Join the debate » You may seek to dazzle with your grin . . . but whitening your teeth could be putting you at risk.

Experts have discovered that 18 out of 20 whitening kits tested contain illegal levels of bleach.

One product they looked at contained 230 times the legal level of hydrogen peroxide, the common active ingredient.

The chemical, which can be used to dye hair blonde, could cause serious burning to the mouth.

The findings were revealed by the Trading Standards Institute yesterday at its annual conference.

Manufacturers and suppliers of those kits which did not meet the legal limit of 0.1 per cent for hydrogen peroxide, are being advised to withdraw them for sale and could face prosecution.

However, the unsafe brands have not been named.

Chief executive Ron Gainsford said: "Hydrogen peroxide is a chemical well known in the hairdressing industry, but it is also used in teeth whitening products to bleach teeth.

"Many people these days aspire to having the perfect Hollywood smile and some stars have paid a lot of money to achieve this through cosmetic dental treatment.

"There are much cheaper kits on sale for home use, for instance, some of those tested by Trading Standards cost as little as £14.

"But this could end up burning more than a hole in your pocket.

"We strongly recommend that anyone considering having their teeth whitened cosmetically should consult a qualified dentist."

In the last five years, the desire for cosmetic dentistry has increased.

But as well as causing chemical burns to the mouth, high levels of the bleach can aggravate gum disease and cause sensitive teeth.

The institution only tested tooth whitening kits. It did not look at whitening toothpastes or polishes on the market. For the research, officers from Trading Standards in Central England bought 16 teeth whitening kits on the Internet or over the counter from pharmacists or beauty shops across the Midlands.

Just two complied with the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations.

They were the Boots Expert Teeth Whitening Programme and the "Brilliant" tooth whitening system, which is distributed in the UK by Brilliant Products, of Staines, Middlesex. The remaining 14 contained between 0.24 per cent and 23.8 per cent of hydrogen peroxide.

The four other whitening products were sampled by Hertfordshire Trading Standards.

Officers bought them on the Internet from UK suppliers.

All contained higher than the legal level of hydrogen peroxide, the highest being 7.3per cent.

Operations manager Mike MacGregor said: "We support the limit of 0.1per cent hydrogen peroxide for products used by anyone who is not a qualified dentist."

There may be scope to allow dentists to use higher concentrations of the bleach, he said. Currently, they would be breaking the law by using such products.

Those using whitening kits are generally advised to squirt a line of cream into a mould.

Then they are told to bite down on the mould, which fits over the teeth, for a set period - usually several minutes.

Quite often, repeated treatments are recommended over days and weeks to get the desired smile.

The Insitute did not name the dangerous brands as it is considering prosecutions and does not want to prejudice the cases.

However, it warned that many of the suspect DIY products are sold by beauty parlours and spas as well as retail outlets and over the Internet.

Some of the brands say that they contain more than 0.1per cent hydrogen peroxide in the list of ingredients, it added.

These products will have been produced for foreign markets where the health controls are less stringent, it said.

The institute advised those who have bought kits to go back to the retailer and ask how much hydrogen peroxide they contain

Mushy Peas or Tapioca Pudding? Part 2

contd
It seems to me that if these slabs are so illusive it could pay one to guard them ferociously and to only lay them sparingly and to the best effect. Furthermore perhaps a GPS system should be used to avoid the merest hint of being led in the direction of hell, wherever that may be.

For many people the road to success can be traced back to childhood. Perhaps it all started for you as a small child standing in front of a mirror or an appreciative family audience, strutting your stuff to the sounds of the latest song, impersonating your hero or heroine, imitating their actions and mannerisms. Or maybe your inspiration came from a different starting place, a movie star or a TV personality, even a real life exemplar. Whatever or whoever your source of inspiration, it is more than likely that the focus of your admiration would have had many supporters, some of whom would be affected in the same way, others who would simply enjoy the moment and pass on to other destinies.

However, something inside of you clicked and you made a decision, whether conscious or not, to take on board the lessons learnt and to expound on them, introducing your own idiosyncrasies in an effort to reach your own zenith.

The foregoing explanations may seem a little starchy. After all, whilst all these things were going on your true feelings would not be as analytical. They would possibly take more of the form of;

“Wow! He’s incredible! They’re out of this world. So original. So cool. So ace. So …..”

Well I’m sure you get the picture. These feelings can materialise as a sudden intuitive leap of understanding, goose bumps on the arms, the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, a light in your brain clicking on abruptly. On the other hand they may take time to develop. They may creep up on you like a thief in the night. However the feelings dawn, the end result is like a hunger for hot curries (if you really, really enjoy them) or a thirst for a cold beer on a hot day. Your tastes may be for fried eggs or cool lemonade, but there’s no getting away from the glorious feeling of satisfaction that comes from indulging your desires.

With some of us, our desires can be sated vicariously. For others these desires create a need to emulate the performances. This is the point at which we start our journey.

Let’s imagine that we are in a supermarket. After parking our car in the enormous car park… normally quite a good place but, however did we cope before their advent? There would have to have been a shop on every corner so that we could simply walk to buy our groceries. Ha ha what a crazy idea ……. Ah so that’s why it’s called a car park, it’s where people can park their cars. It’s not that there are swings and slides and merry go rounds for the use of cars only. One has to be so careful with language sometimes, especially English.

So we enter the store through those giant revolving doors, hoping they won’t stop when we’re in there. If we time it right we exit the doors and enter a world of delights. If we events are mistimed we simply go round again and get a second chance to enter the emporium of delights.

i must be drunk. lol

woke up at 3:20 am and found a big moth casting a dark shadow on the wall. By the moonlight, I can clearly see the different colors on her big sloppy wings. I've never seen a moth like that before, beautiful but abnormal. Grandma told me after people die, their soul would go to another world. If they miss someone, they magically change into a big multicolored moth flying back to see that special person. Everyone knows I am scared of moth. But this time, I just want her to stay. Hey, brave moth, is it the loneliness that taught you how to fly in the dark?

There are 3 tiny holes on my left ear and 2 on my right one for earings. A superstitious girl friend told me if I have my earlobes pierced, I will be reincarnated as a woman again. Wow, I don't really care what form I will be born in an after life. But I pray if there is reincarnation, I prefer my soul to enter a four-leaf clover because it is pretty. Many years ago, my aunt left her husband and her 2 year old son for a married guy who can never promise her a family. I just want to say she is like a moth darting into a flame to seek it's own doom. Anyway, I am not like her. I think I am more like a ostrich who knows to bury the head in the sandpit when something unplesant happens.

Suddenly I come to understand that there lives a special type of people in this planet. You don't have to see their smile. You don't have to know their mind. Only when hearing their voice, you fall in love with them.

A CHANGING WORLD?

Today, Wednesday 27 June is, according to the media, a historic day.
Today we see the end of one Prime Ministers term as he steps down and the start of anothers ascension to the role.

Over the last few years we may have seen changes.
We may have seen or heard fine words being spoken.

For some the changes have not been apparent in any tangible way.
Their life continues in a downward spiral.
For some the sentiments of the fine words spoken have failed to supply the bread they need.
They scrabble in the dirt for a grain of wheat.
For some the decisions made have wrought havoc and anguish on their lives and that of their loved ones.
They live in the shadow of former dictators and fear of their liberators.
For some the comfort of noble speeches have failed to provide the essential water of life.
They are deemed "fortunate" if a trickle of money should furnish them with a standpipe in a village of thousands whilst we may not even blanche at running our tap till the water is cool enough.

Today I heard of a friend, a young doctor who had died in a plane crash in Malawi. He was a lovely man. Engaging, humble, intellectual, generous in his giving to life.A sad loss. He will be missed by those whose life he touched.

Every day I hear the cries of the thousands who teeter on the brink, crying to the wind, some incapable of protest. And they die amongst the reverberations of the noble words. They pass to another place oblivious of the changes.

Today is indeed a historic day which should be remembered as the start of a chance to see justice in the world.
To see the start of the opportunity to rewrite the future.
To mourn the loss of our brothers and sisters across the world.
To take the action needed to bring about change which will be felt in every corner of the earth.
