And how would one go about deciding which people to trust they have a good immune system, and have lived a healthy enough life?

Taking people's word for it?

Like some take an AIDS infected persons word he/she is not infected, and it turns out later he/she was without knowing it?

Stressie, I am becoming concerned about your alcohol consumption.

I'm worried, too. If alcohol makes its user as perceptive as it apparently makes T, then I'm afraid I should be drinking more...conversing dunno laugh wave

CaptainBeirutIII: Of course you're entitled to your beliefs, but somewhere you reach a point where ones personal beliefs might become a hazard to other, and that's where I object.
If 99 of us are convinced we should take the vaccine, why should you not? It is not a democratic right to carry and spread diseases.
It is however your right to take the chance, but that's where I feel you should also agree it's OK to move you somewhere else, with likeminded, quaranteen in other words.

If there's an epidemic, personal convictions might be necessary to be overidden for the good of the many.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your personal fear of the virus. It's about whether it's spreading or not. If it is, then fear as little as you wish, as long as you either take the vaccine or agree to live somewhere isolated where you can't chance spreading it. That's my belief.

Research in this instans by all means, but to me that research is no different than this: I know people who would tell me that their research has shown that God will take them when he decides so, and all of that is predetermined. So they'll drive without a seatbelt and drive like bloody lunatics, being a great hazard in traffic. You should see how some drive through crossings in Saudi Arabia, chancing their way through because Allah decides anyway.
So, if they want to take that chance in traffic while most of the rest of us don't, fine, but they should all e gatherd somewhere, where the rest of us don't have to be put at risk.

Well, Captain (I thought you were banned - did they redeem you already?), have you looked at the logical consequences of this belief? Influenza, in its various and colorful forms, kills thousands of people each year. Some have been equally or more lethal than the Swine Flu. Would you support compulsory flu shots? If not, why not?

Various cold viruses probably kill some people each year as well. Should people who have colds be forced into quarantine?

Where this would lead logically would be to a mammoth government health agency which oversees everything we do related to health. Hell, people who drink too much coffee probably pose a threat because their frayed nerves could cause them to mishandle a car or heavy machinery. Being overweight is a drain on our medical system, likely causing loss of life due to diversion of finite health services.

You will argue that we can create rational, sensible lines which separate health tyranny for health democracy, but I think when you advocate forcing people to ingest substances into their bodies you are clearly crossing that sensible line.

I just laughed at that.

Erm, the WHO has issued a notice suggesting a rather small problem called a pandemic.

I can email over to you the notice that was aent to our school from our government, if you like. It's in German, but I'll translate it for you.

One thing the rags and CNN and Fox spouting their scare mongering crap, it's another when health officials start issuing notices to schools and our kids are at risk.

You might have the best immune system in the world and what works for you may not work for them. You are not going to have a health official advise you to have your child vaccinated?

And lets remember, it is only advice. I can tell you what will happen in Austria, if it is advised, if we choose not to take the vaccine as in last years Measles Epiddemic, I would lose my job, unless I prove mitigating circumstances, and any child whose parent could not prove mitigating circumstances, would be excluded from school.

I wonder, did you have your kids vaccinated as babies, as a matter of interest Stressie?

Well that sort of job would suit me. I have always been good at giving directions.

Yes Sommer. I'm not telling anyone to not get a vaccine, especially you. I totally understand. My kids have been vaccinated, and it was a huge dissapointment. Really made me shake my head. They did not need one, but their mother insisted at the time, and I really had no say...if you only knew her. lol

My parents never had me vaccinated btw...

They were sooo against it and so counter culture. Not hippies, but well educated and in tune with the other wave. Happens when one grows up in San Francisco near the Haight district.

druidess6308: Yes, but Riz the combination of having all of these childhood vaccines has been linked to the rise in autism in children as well. Sometimes we have to weigh things like having a child have to undergo chelation therapy and eat a lactose-free and gluten-free diet for the rest of their lives against the remote possibility of getting a disease that's treatable.
I have not heard that Dru. I will have to do a bit of research on that one.

Sommerauer71: Hi Dru.

Nobody is trying to make any one fearful and you know well enough that is not what he is about.

I am all about alternative medicines, I hate taking any medication and I find it interesting what you are doing and studying. I am always mind over matter and having a healthy mind to me, is what keeps me physically healthy.

If Austria force a vaccine, then I will have it and if the goverment advise that all people working with children have it, not a national force, then I will not be taking any chances.

Certainly not at the risk of losing my job and risking passing on a little known about virus.

In the meantime, until that happens, I do everything I can to maintain health that I was blessed with, with a good diet, exercise and that manages to keep ill health away from me.

I do understand your position with your particular job as well, Sommer. Honest, I understand that, and it would make a difference to me if that was the case for me. However, it's not.

Right, like I am not telling you not to have one.

Why was it a huge disappointment? There was one vaccine that I said no to, with my daughter, because she was awaiting results from some tests. They waited. I trusted the doctors when I was pregnant, at their births and the health professionals afterwards.

What about if you go on holiday? Insurance companies will not pay out if you become ill, and have not had the vaccinations?

Or do you take the belief that you will not get ill? What if like my daughter in Thailand, who is also never ill and has had antibiotics once in 19 years and was bitten by a bug and caught Denghe Fever?

Hospital for a week, cost me my life savings to get her home safely, had she not had the recommended jabs before going!
