BebeII: Will it pass? It has to go through the Senate first. Besides that, I haven't seen any polls where the "majority" of Americans have voted for this at all. Have you paid no attention to the Tea parties? Ignorance of how goverment works does not stand you in good stead my dear.
Please, the tea parties are just grand standing by mostly Republicans and often coordinated by main stream media. I am fully aware of how the government operates my dear and I have no doubt that it will pass through the senate!! Please...most people want some kind of health care reform!! This Bill, as is, is not perfect but it is definitely a step in the right direction!!

Another CS success story!
You two dears are calling each other 'dear' - so nice!
BebeII: Well, if you call a 6% majority of all voters a mandate. However, those people who support healthcare reform don't necessarily want what this Bill entails. There will be revisions I'm sure but it puts the gov. in charge of a high % of the economy. Just because a party has a majority doesn't mean they can afford to ignore the wishes of all voters-as GB found out.
Well, you can only blame yourselves (plural) for what you 'democratically' voted in....... and you bleat on about your constitution so much that maybe it should change a little as it's been so distorted by people who deliberately try and misinterpret it for their own means!

Hope that the poor people in your country will have the possibility to see a doctor and to get a treatment too now

The tea parties are the expression of a free people who don't like what their seeing by their gov.s actions. You may diss them all you want, but I certainly wasn't contacted by a repub. legislator to go to Washington! The MSM had no clue about these protests and I don't listen to them anyway-I get my news online. I have no problem with healthcare reform either-I just believe that the LEAST intervention by the state is the best way to go. Don't knock it because you don't understand it and don't let your emotions get in the way of carefully scrutinizing this legislation. There is more than a one-size fits all way of ensuring that people get their needs met.

Of course it's our responsibilty. As for the Constitution, it's meaning has sadly been stretched to be all things to all people.
Nettermann: Hope that the poor people in your country will have the possibility to see a doctor and to get a treatment too now
They will, thank God because so many need it and I think that prevention (which is rarely mentioned here) will play a big part in bringing down costs. Also, Obama has identified billion, if not trillions of dollars in wasteful spending that is currently occurring that will help offset the hefty price tag. It really is NOT going to be as bad as people are making it out to be.

We agree then!
I've never read your Constitution, but I heard it was pretty 'cool' but then people really twisted the basic meaning of some of the amendments.
I think most Americans are really nice people, the fact that a lot of them are rather ill-informed (or give that impression) and that something like 30% don't even own a pigging passport makes you a misunderstood nation that can at times turn rather insular and protectionist; it's a shame!
BebeII: It is your interpretation that I show animosity-I work with the elderly, handicapped and terminally ill. The rest of your post would take me too long to answer.
I read you worked in the medical profession - but does that make you either nice or caring?

Why own a passport when we can hardly see the whole of our own country in a lifetime?

My clients seem to think so! Many of them agree that this Bill is a no-go. That may surprise you, but I hear a lot of people on here arguing for this Bill based on emotions alone. There is a lot of BS being spread about our healthcare system worldwide and very little thought to even better solutions. It seems that the GOVERMENT has become the end-all be-all to solving any problem.
Conrad - you have to realise that many of us mere mortals prefer 'sound bytes' to long-winded quotes....... you really should hone your skills at being to express your OWN opinion without quoting verbatim all the time......... it's too hard work for me and way too lazy on your part!
