At Vietnam young kittens are a delicacy. The most disgusting thing when I was at Vietnam is when I saw several people catch young kittens (at least two months old) to eat right on the spot. First they’d start a small fire with whatever burned. Then get the kitten and insert a sharp pointed branch thick enough to hold weight, and then insert the kittens’ butt until branch came out of kittens’ mouth, than start cooking it. After well cooked, guts and all were eaten, except bones…..how disgusting!

....my mum used to cook that....disgustingly enough it is the intestines which are soaked overnight and cleaned out properly......boiled for a couple of hours......chopped up....then cooked with a load of veg and out comes this incredible stew that even now.....years later....makes my mouth water...
....with plenty of fresh crusty bread to dip in....
...haven't eaten that for simply ages....

As a treat for the dog my mum used to boil up a sheep's head, that smelt pretty rank also. But it was my treat as a boy to play butcher and cut all the meat off, scoop oot the brains and the eyes. What a gory kid I was.
I've eaten sheeps brain in a restaurant. Didn't taste of much really but it was fried in garlic butter. It was more the texture I remember.

...in earlier times....when only a small percentage of the population could actually afford to have beef to eat.....it was the poor man's replacement....since all the intestines would be thrown out with the rest of the offal.....and could be picked up for free by the poorer folk....who normally would have access to things like onions and potatoes and stuff.....since most were farmers anyway....

when we already can eat porridge, moms will give their baby the heart of the cow for the sidedishes and even the doctor here says its healthy for a growing up baby
but its not good for adult
