So you solely base your views on attraction on a guy's height? Ok if the height difference is to great, a couple will look kinda weird, but it works both ways.

Anyway, if you had done a bit of research, you would have found that people tend to be bigger in colder climates, and smaller physically in warmer ones. It's a matter of evolution, smaller bodies disperse heat faster, while larger bodies are better at storing up heat.

It's why animals were larger in the Ice Age as well. If you were looking for taller guys, you did the wrong choice of moving to Malta laugh

nah if you're only 5' then you should be fine here in Malta ;) just a few inches taller and then yes you would start seeing it as a bit of a problem....especially if you like wearing high heels hehe...again only if you prefer tall men!

But she didn't move to Malta, she lives in Spain.

As for your theory about height, well for goodness sake, we are so integrated now, tall, short, medium height men, or women, can be found anywhere in the world.

All I can say to the OP is get out of the Little Britain communities, make friends with the Spanish, learn the language, etc etc....your options will increase, and you will meet great people who do not live their lives eating English breakfasts, going down the pub...English pub of course....afternoon and evening, night after night.

I have, after living here for five years, but maybe it's been easier for me living away from the ex-pat enclaves. I never come across any other English person here, and that suits me, because it means I've been able to integrate fully. Many of the ex-pats living in Spain, on the coast in particular, have a variety of problems in one way or another, I see this because I personally know a few, and from others I've met here on CS in the past. Not a road I would want to go down! I suspect it would be similar in Malta if you choose to mix with the many ex-pats there.

Good luck.

Well said you little integrator you. Hi Jan,nice to see you back. Good Crimbo ? Tis true what you say re ex pats. In the main they do not make the effort to integrate and yet they are usually the type who are the most vociforous and the first to complain about the lack of immigrant integration back in the uk. I have only Spanish tv,radio and newspapers. CS is the only place I use English. Still short of a lay though.laugh

Jan, I was responding to that woman who had moved to Gozo.

Re-the height theory, my point wasn't about any racial discrimination, it's a fact that people who have lived for generations in warmer climates tend to be shorter, and those who have lived for generations in colder climates tend to be taller.

I'll make a case in point, when a few months ago the Maltese national football team against Denmark, our tallest defender who by Maltese standards is quite a big guy, was only as tall as the shortest Danish player.

It's also something that the Maltese football team suffers from when playing against Scandinavian sides, the height difference means we rarely win any headers against them.

It's really annoying when the pc brigade seem to take offence at anything you know.

But Scandinavian teams suffer the heat when playing in Malta, so I'm sure it evens itself out...

Yes we tend to use that to our advantage when we play at home laugh

We really suffer when playing away however, some of our worst defeats have come playing away against Scandinavian sides. sigh

I agree with all you have said about the ex-pats living here in Spain and in other Countries. But I think you have made too assuumptions about me. I live in a very small village in the mountains of inland Spain, I speak Spanish and am on the local council, my freinds are Spanish in the main, I cook and eat Spanish style food.

Thanks for making your comments they are valid Happy New Year

Well, it may be my tastes, but all that buttery French cuisine doesn't do it for me.

I much prefer healthier foods such as the Mediterranean diet. handshake

I deliberately steered away from the ex-pat areas of Cyprus and live in an established village, but I find it very difficult to learn Greek as most of my Cypriot neighbours insist on speaking to me in English, as do most people on the island. I'm sure if I lived somewhere where English is not used so much I would have made a much greater attempt to learn Greek.

Unfortunately there are areas where ex-pats sit in the pub all day drinking and moaning about the heat in the summer but not all of us are like that. I moved here to live a better life and I've achieved it, at least I feel safe walking about here and can leave my car and home unlocked without worrying.

Now if I could just find someone to share this idyllic lfe with - roll on 2010!
