Ahemmmmmmmmmmm the heading on this thread asks "CAN U DRIVE"
Up until latest car. I always bought a manual transmission. The truck behind me in my picture is a six speed manual with a heavy duty 7.3 liter diesel engine. I have always prefer shifting myself.
Also we drive on the left side of the road so the driver is seated at the other side of the car (as compared to the US). The gear stick is still in the centre of the car and therefore is operated left-handed.
Yeah I spent 6 months in UK, driving on the wrong side of the road.

sweetowen: The first car my mom bought me ('79 Plymouth Arrow) was a stick-shift. I WANTED it that way. That was back in '82. I even taught my older brother how to drive stick. I have automatic now... only because it's not so easy to steer while holding coffee, a cigarette, & the cell phone, while applying makeup.

So I know you asked who has NOT driven a stick but I just felt the need to pipe in anyway..I drive a stick and won't drive anything else. It's more economical, I like the control I have over the vehicle and IT'S JUST PLAIN FUN!!!! 2 of my 3 children learned to drive on sticks and my youngest can manage if she must. She says she sometimes feels guilty because she is the only one who has not mastered it.....lol. In Ohio, if a person drives a stick the assumption is that they could not afford the automatic and if a woman drives one...well she's just weird... which I take as a compliment of high regard!
This thread is aimed mainly at people form America where automatic gearboxes are the norm. In the uk, automatic boxes are few and far between. So I was just wondering, how many Americans have never driven, or would not be able to drive a manual shift car with a clutch and gear shift.
i drive manual./... and hate driving automatic.. so yeah :)
