well it's an out dated notion of my mother's really but she passed on to me that the English are stuffy, and the French arrogant.
So far I've found neither case to be true.....people everywhere are pretty similar. But if I had to answer to my mom's descriptions, I'd say that the British are incredibly friendly, and the French charming and genuine - has been my experience.
To me, IMO - Europeans are wonderful as they live life on a smaller scale than most Americans. My European friends are fine with an afternoon of tea, toast & conversations while in America one must always be "doing something."
In response to: When I speak to my males friends about women, sometimes they say 'oh I was in love with her...', so what made this woman different? Why her and not the others? What is the 'trigger' that makes a man fall in 'love' with a certain woman and be able to just casually date others?
Just feed him. That's all it takes. (at first) Home cooked meals are the way to his heart.......(and stomach) At least that's what mine says

felixis99: yes, I believe it is not so different for a woman,
And it is hard to describe exactly why you fall for one woman and not another. I've seen men fall for a woman who the less attractive of the two he's interested in. I've also been cast aside for local hoodies So I think there is something to be said for having a bit of background or history together - I think the men I was seeing at those times..............well one was worried that I wouldn't stay put (here in the area), the other got a local girl pregnant.
Neither had much of a backbone - so I'm probably better off the loser^there
What I want to know is when is my turn going to be!!!!!????

It's that tight feeling I get in my pants that let's me know I'm falling in love

Englishman55: It's that warm glow of a feeling you get when you are in her company. It's wanting to be with her all the time. Wanting be be close, to pull her into your chest and hold her tight, never to let go.
When you are not in her company you just can't stop thinking of her....... You see her smile, hear her voice, smell her perfume and feel her touch and that warm glow comes back again.

Well im not sure that answered the question but what the hell I got the jist.
We Brits often think of Americans as loud and brash but that not true of all, maybe some Texans.
Unfortunately there a history of this person pretending to be cleverer than everybody else and I bit on the day.

whatever - let it go
I get alng pretty well by remembering that as soon as we generalze , we find exceptions, and as soon as we accuse , we often do the same thing- for example- Americans, Loud & Brash? Yes, that is the "ugly American" reputation we got as post WW2 tourists - but then I think of a bunch of Europeans at a Rugby match - don't come much more brash than that
