I feel like I've been blown off more times than anyone else on the planet. Please (clenches hands together) try to be compassionate. Girls, you know how to be nice. Please don't use the situation as an opportunity for an ego boost. The "yeh, as if" accompanied by the hair flip and eye roll is the worst. If it's a situation where you don't really know the guy, tell him your seeing someone, otherwise you would have gone out with him in a minute. I know, a little lie, but a harmless white lie to spare the poor guy's feelings, not the end of the world.

I mean there is tons of this stuff. I thought all girls were the masters of the 'polite brush off'
I wouldn't worry to much about hurting his feelings. The average guy gets to deal with rejection alot. Unless he is a 'Brad pitt' or super rich he will be used to it by now.
To be honest i wish girls would just sat it like it is, saves more heart ache in the long run.
