bodleing: Canal boats (narrow boats) are very popular in the uk.
They can reach a length of 72ft and make very comfortable
homes. Unaffected by the weather also.

Yea! but that aint boats anymore, just a house on the water, Holland got loads of them...................one advantage though u got a Hugh swimming pool in the back yard...laugh laugh

Hiya,....G..wave All good...bouquet

Just about bought a sailboat this year, very close to purchase I realized all the costs involved, really it was not in my plan after all, I came out with a better design that I plan to build later with more space for living...

Very nice I have to admit Living on the water but most sailboats floor plan for living is not for me...

ladyfingers: Don't think I'd like to live on a sailboat, but almost got to live on a houseboat once. Was so disappointed when I didn't.
a house boat would be ok, i guess...but you would be limited in your travels...it would'nt be very sea worthy...professor laugh

jlw45: yes, i've seen something about them, in the UK....they look interresting....but they could'nt be very sea worthy ??..

they are neat though

Definitely not seaworthy.

There are over 2000 miles of navigable canals and waterways in
the uk, so plenty of scope for moving around.thumbs up

I know a couple who lived of a sail boat together for about 19 years. This is what I would call the ultimit test of being able to live together and get along, especialy when at sea for months at a time..
It isn't for eveyone.

For me, it seems like too much of an inconvinience if this is your only residence.

I guess it is just up to the lifestyle you choose. A lot of people here on the island live aboard boats, but it is a lot of work and it isn't always as simple as pulling anchore and sailing off into the sunset.
