Oh Wow! It's 8pm and I just looked out of the upstair's window (am always looking out to see what birds I can see in the garden roll eyes )and what should I see in the middle of the lawn....a sparrowhawk!! I have seen them on several occasions flying around the estate, and I have seen a very obvious sparrowhawk "kill" on the track just outside the bottom of the garden, but I've never seen one IN the garden! It was a female I think, and she flew up onto the garden table and stood there as bold as brass just looking around! She then hopped up onto the top of the Leylandii hedge and disappeared inside it, remaining in there for a few seconds until she flew out the side of it! She was obviously searching for a nest, but I don't think she actually caught anything.

I know that sparrowhawks usually catch their prey either on the wing or when it is sitting on a branch etc, but I never actually realised they would go into what is quite a dense garden hedge to seek out prey! Amazing sight! yay yay

Has the seed attracted any mice at all? It may do during the winter months when food is scarce.

Well, I did have a mouse problem earlier in the year. In theory, I don't mind them, but they were living in all three sheds and had chewed through stuff they shouldn't have....so unfortunately, I had to buy mouse traps blues Caught four altogether and haven't seen any since.

laugh No I'm not on commission....wish I was!!! roll eyes doh
