telgordo: Does anyone else find those trumpets annoying ?
I end up with a headache after each match
God knows what it does to the players I am just watching the algeria/slovenia match and one of the players complained that he couldnt hear the whistle and nearly made a major gaff

I just found this link which says they are trying to ban them

Cant the SA fans just chant and sing like everyone else

When I first heard them I wondered what the heck was making that sound.uh oh Then I discovered it was the SA fans enjoying themselves - every country has its way of expressing itself, they happen to like the Vuvuzelas, we like Rhythm Sections, others might like drums. Of course now they don't bother me as I;ve gotten used to them. You want to hear LOUD - try working behind a music truck out here on a Carnival Tuesday they you'll know what loud really means.

Yes!!

Let me explain.
This is/was because most local spectators left the stadium right after the 2nd goal fell against South Africa.

Instead of CHEERING THEM ON cheering . . .

... they (basically) left them on their own . . . doh

Totally agree with you here mate. I really felt sorry for the South African players who were left to struggle on without any support by their 'fans'. doh

Sad to say, with that act South Africa really has shown it wasn't worthy of hosting a World Cup.

telgordo: Good comeback wulfen
I just think hes upset because you have part of his profile name

That could be it telgordo laugh

telgordo: But just another point
Would they be allowed to blow the vuvuzelas at a cricket match ?
Or come to that at a golf or snooker tournament ?
I think not

That's exactly what happened at a rugby match held recently in South Africa between the S.Africans vs France. The vuvuzelas weren't allowed in, so why all the hype to allow them during football matches?

I go to Rome to watch AS Roma matches at least once a year, and if someone were to blow one of those contraptions next to me during a match he'd definitely be blowing it from his a*s soon after, lol.

As for the fact that vuvuzelas are 'cultural', they're a fairly recent invention and made of plastic, so what historical/cultural significance do they have to South Africa in general?

To make one example of harmful 'cultural' presences in football in the past, once upon a time football hooliganism was very prevalent in English football. In fact, as soon as you mentioned English clubs hooliganism sprang to mind not so many years ago. The English rightfully drove hooligans out of the game, and I don't think English football has suffered from the removal of such a 'cultural' football presence.

telgordo: As i said previously it wouldnt be so bad if the things were in tune, but its just like a 2 year old trying to blow a trumpet to annoy everyone
Imagine if someone started a new trend of world war two sirens being set off at the matches, i'm sure there would soon be a world war three

Part of the beautiful atmosphere in a World Cup is to see the different ways football fans from around the world support their respective teams. You don't get to see fans dancing to Samba music in European matches, the English band playing the 'Great Escape' during Italian matches etc. These typical (and very nice) football festivities have all been drowned under the constant droning of bees in this World Cup.

Well, quite UNEXPECTEDLY South Africa's Bafana Bafana have turned the game around - and taken the upper hand within the first 30 minutes by shooting the first goal!!
- Well done !!
After the French player knocked an opponent with his elbow and receiving a RED CARD for it the South African team got their HOPE back and shot another GOAL! (2:0)
(If they only had won their first game, or 1 or 2 goals more they would have been 2nd in their group!)

Sadly their good spirit was taking a slight knock after receiving a goal from the French side.
They have missed quite a few opportunities to score a third goal however.

Anyway, as one German radio said: "South Africa wins against France and is out of the World Cup!"
- Yes, that is the sad news, but winning against France, being the 2nd best team of the previous World Cup (in 2006) is quite an achievement, I would say!!!
I think this will have a positive drive towards SOCCER in South Africa!

OK, but now that ALL THIS is said, let's get BACK ON TRACK to the VUVUZELAS.

I hope to have GOOD NEWS for all your ears and nerves!!
The solution comes from Germany, more precise from the RWTH Aachen University (IND = Institute of Communication Systems and Data Processing).
They have released a FREE Vuvuzela Filter, to filter out the specific Vuvuzela frequencies.
This is a DLL plug in to be used with your VLC Video Player.

=========================
And this is how it goes:
=========================
1) download the driver
2) copy into the VLC-Plugin folder
3) activate it the menu under SETUP
4) restart VLC
5) done !!!
6) Enjoy your Videos without the irritating Vuvuzela NOISE!!

The IND Vuvuzela filter is for Download as VLC-Plugin. For an undisturbed world cup!
it is released for Windows, Linux, Ubuntu ans MAC.
Hope nobody bans me from this site, by giving the website where to get this Plug-In:
