Ralphy2407: I have never hit a woman and don't intend to ever do it but my ex used to push me so far that it drove me crazy and would even ask me to hit her...she used to be hit by her ex and was obviously screwed up by it but also other women have acted the same pushing and pushing wanting a violent erruption from me and if they had been a man I would have punched them out but why do some women do this to men????:dunno

bodicea: no, where did i suggest that in my statement?. not condoning ANY sort of violence, unless its a matter of life and limb. the right to defend yourself is a human right, but if its a partner, i would exit as soon as things STARTED to get intense, to avoid a physical confrontation
It amazing what some people are capable of, In my case doors of the house locked, keys thrown away.....and alot more i won't get into here. Many men in my situation stay for their kids sake and safety...
Eventually I left when i had enough information to secure access to my kids on a wekly basis......
When people meet up and start dating it should always be remembered that people have a past that you know nothing about. Take your time getting to know someone really well... not just what they say, but that their action support these word spoken..
I agree with the OP that a man shouldn't hit a woman, but also that on occassion that, that can be a difficult standard to live up to....

I'm really glad you have found out this isn't the norm... No child should have to grow up witnessing or being the victim of violence.
It makes me MAD when adults bully kids or when kids have to watch one of their parents being bullied!

I know what you mean about a difficult standard to live up to ,been there myself in one 12 month relationship ,,she was a drunk ,and come in one nite ,had dissapeared for 3 days ,,pissed herself as usual ,then smashed the place up including a new guitar i saved up for ,and hit ,spat and kicked ,, must have upset her with the meal i made for her ..
But just had contemp ,wouldnt retaliate as i wasnt going down to her level ..But iff they do get into relationships with a male that hasnt got self control ? ah ,what can i say ..
