jvaski: Ttom, we've tried it the right's way for the past eight years , we've tried to push reform ..and it was a miserable compromise , now it's gonna break every middle class family with the expense !
The only thing left is regualtion of the healthcare industry

Regulate them. Then regulate the steel mills. Then regulate the construction industry. Then regulate the airlines. Then regulate Doctors. Then regulate ranchers...............you get the drift....regulate the frigin country. Don't let anyone have a price increase. They raise a price, fine them. Or place their exec in jail for breaking your price regulations. Obamas want to fine any that don't buy health insurance. So this dacronian policy is not that far off in the future.

Here is a fact. In 2000 dollars. Every woman in the country in her life time will have $361,192 worth of medical care costs. Cradle to grave that is what is cost for each woman in the country. Every man has $268,679 worth from cradle to grave. Place 10 years of inflation on those figures and that the country is greying (using more Heath care as it does). And you got a pic of the situation.

A average woman today, in her entire life time....will take the cost of building two houses at $225,000 each (2010 dollars). A man, a house and half. There are 309m people in the country. Do the math. Today health care is 17% of the US economy. And it will only grow form here. We cannot sustain $450,000 (2010) for each of the 161m women and girls in the country and for each man $325,000 (2010 dollars) for the 148m men and boys in the country. It is unsustainable. Unless we find other ways to pay for health care.

So regulate them and set their prices. Watch what happens.

Insurance Companies will lost profits and many will close. Unemployment. Lose of insurance company investments in the country. Less competition in the industry.

Or

Force nationwide competition into larger policy/age groups that should keep premiums down. Have employer add rates for career fields. Allow the policy holder to shop the industry for his best terms. Legislate the insurance companies to insure special needs and the 35m uninsured via a government voucher programs.

If you think that am off. Consider the number of small and mid size banks that are closing....at a rate of 400 per year....after Obama's regulations on the banking industry. That is unemployment. That is problems on main street. That is less competition in the lending industry.

It is a flat out gigantic problem. And I don't have many of the answers.
But writing a bill that only regulates insurance carriers is not the end all solution.

That's not quite right. The "right's way" was nothing more thank keeping the "left's way" from saddling us with a massive forward move in socialism. It wasn't some onerous change designed to screw people.

That it screwed people would imply that it actively did something to you and it didn't. That you didn't get something new that you didn't have before wasn't an action against anyone. However, that was a different day and now you have Obamacare. I think free insurance for everyone would be a great idea. I just wish it really could be free, which it can't. It's going to be expensive and now it's just a matter of sorting out who's going to pay the bill and whether this make us a stronger economy or a weaker one and whether healthcare will improve or be worse because of it. And much as we like to bloviate, the fact is, we don't know the answers to all those questions yet. We'll just have to see how things work out, now.

I seriously don't think the majority of Americans expect "free healthcare or insurance"
But "reasonable rates for medical services and insurance premiums - they do desperately want and deserve !
People shouldn't have to pawn their homes in their senior years just to have healthcare ......scold

What's really sad is that neither political party is exempt from being totally bought and paid-for by the big insurance companies ..........we're totally screwed and many of us simply will have to choose to risk not having insurance to keep our homes . Doing the math with 30-35% / year premium increases is a no-brainer ............frustrated

Scubadiva: The advantage they have is that the average person has NO clue whatsoever about economics and finance.

I'd like to bump this up to the macro level. My pledge to America is to shut down the Federal Reserve. Both Republicans and Democrats have not done anything about this problem, and the average American does not fully grasp what is going on here.

"The reality is that the United States is a nation that does not even have control over its own currency. If the United States government wants more money, it has to go ask the Federal Reserve to create it. Unfortunately, the Federal Reserve does not also create the interest that will ultimately be paid on that new money that is being created. So where will the money come from to pay the interest? Well, by creating even more money (debt) in the future. It sounds like insanity, but that is the U.S. financial system. It is a perpetual debt machine that was created to have an ever expanding national debt that is mathematically impossible to pay off." -

Fortunately, politicians are waking up, Independent Candidate for Nevada Governor nutshell'd this:

Mortgage Backed Securities: Simplified.
Ok, so here it is: The banking cartel (European central bankers who own the Federal Reserve) have the control of Americas money supply. To control America there are a few things that need to be done (you can count them on one hand). One of these is to own property assets (all kinds, including residential). To own them, they restrict the money supply and cause a financial crash. This was done through predator lending schemes knowing unqualified lenders would get loans. First step in the scheme is to increase the money supply “just enough” and make laws to “give” marginal buyers a way to buy property. This would move the property from those that had the ability to make payments into the hands of those that do not have the ability to pay, for profit from the sale. Then, pull back on the money supply “just enough” to cause a crunch. This crunch rolls into mortgage defaults. Now, just add a few ledger entries (simply add numbers into a central banks computer) creating money out of thin air, and use these dollars to buy the toxic mortgages from the smaller banks and mortgage companies at a “cut rate.” That is called “Mortgage Backed Securities.” Now the true wealth is being transitioned to European Central Bankers.

In America we call that STEALING! Nevada has laws against this! (see NV Constitution Art1, Sec14) When I am Governor of Nevada, immediately this game comes to an end. Find out more:

More Federal Reserve evil!!!

The US Dollar is a fiat currency. Just like the Euro. Get bent and bruised over one and you have to get equally bent and bruised over the other.
