venusenvy: How do you men feel about gender equality as relates to women asking men out? Do you like it? are you flattered, touched, freaked out? offended??
Flattered, and hopefully touched at some point during the date.

For the most part, I am really a traditionalist when it comes to this sort of thing. BUT..today I was totally elated by a small incident. Waiting to cross a very busy intersection, (and I have a noticeable handicap) two ladies in pickups right in a row stopped and both gave me the warmest sweetest smiles and out and out stares (but "nice" stares!). When I crossed another gentleman remarked, "Say, did you see those two gals all over you, guy"? "Oh, come on", I said, "that wasn't nothin.." he broke in, "No, seriously, man, I'm as straight as an arrow but you are one good lookin' man, you carry yourself well and look like you know where you're going. I think they really saw something they liked!" I have been in seventh heaven all day. I guess it's all right for the ladies to ask for a date, why not, in this day and age. Gosh, I've had a wonderful day!
Well, this issue came up relating to gender equality. Some women feel its unfemine and are traditional about it. My feeling is why should the men have to screw up thier courage and risk rejection all the time?? Equality is equality right?

I think a lot of women hide behind that idea of "tradition", of not asking a man out on a date, yet want equality in every other way.
I am a little shy so its very difficult for me to even have a conversation at times...But I did get up the nerve to ask someone out...and he said yes.....

I did once too Cin, I felt like I was going to puke, my voice was all shaky and my palms were sweaty. It made me appreciate what men go through

hi venus! to be honest ,i have been asked for a date once by a girl and it did not really differ..i guess ladies fear of rejection may be more and thats why they oftenly wait for men to take the first step
