I've been watching the news reports on TV. I'll be glad when they get them all out. I can't even imagine being trapped down there for that long.

Every day they have been there I have thought about them. And defineately wish them and their families the best.

They are lowering the capsule for the first recovery now. It will take a rescue worker (med tech) down. So let us keep our finger crossed all go well.

12:03am local time: As the rescue capsule is lifted back to the surface through the 622-metre shaft, relatives of Florencio Avalos, the miner chosen to come up first, cheered, sang and prayed.
President Sebastian Pinera cheered as well and shared hugs with his ministers while they watched video of the capsule entering the miners' chamber.

What has really moved me through this whole ordeal is not only the courage from the miners themselves but the families who have been living in tents, at first without any supplies or water, waiting for their loved ones. Truly a moving story.
