Now, I personally, have mixed feelings about hunting..hunting for sport I'm ADAMANTLY against..nothing more disgusting than seeing a bunch of rednecks in camoflage gear spitting tobacco and whooping it up about how much testosterone they must have in their systems to be able to have what it takes to pull the trigger on a .12 gauge shotgun and blast the crap out of a poor defenseless deer...
On the other hand, if you live in, say, the Appalachians and you are dirt poor and you kill a deer to feed your family, that's another matter altogether.
To take the life of a beautiful animal and call it a sport ? What animal or bird can out distance a bullet ? If someone shot your dog or cat, you'd have them charged. Why ? Because your pet belongs to you ? Wildlife belongs to me and everyone else. Allow them their life. Paws
Well, I know a lot of guys that do it for sport, but they eat what they kill. In this area that is the way it is, so I see very little waste. Louisiana is called sportsman paradise, we even have festivals for the different type of game. So far, I have found most things taste pretty good, sometimes you just have to get used to the flavor.
We have many deer here. They come in the back yard sometimes. I saw eight on the way to see my mom. During turkey season it sounded like a war zone here. Is there any way to put silencers on shot guns? I was flinching the whole weekend. I thought I was back in Alabama visiting my relatives there.
I hunt. I sit in a tree with my rifle and wait for hours in the freezing cold to shoot some poor helpless animal, however...... I am a single parent, and that venison feeds us for a whole year!
I don't hunt too much, but I do eat every thing I kill...got a deer and a half in my aunties freezer now...I read this...don't know if is true, but will pass it on: there are more deer in the States now, then before the Europeans came here. i do know for a fact that, my brother is a State Park superintendant, that there were skinny sickly deer all over the Park...never had a hunting season there. I mean in the yard on the roads, the golf courses...Yeah it is the deer's land, but when they are overpopulated, starvation and disease is a sad fact...They finally opened a primitive weapons season there last year and culled 7-8 hundred...most of the meat was donated to orphanges and such.
