Any FF politian with any sense will wait till after the election before ousting Cowen. None of them want to be the leader who suffered the worst election results in the parties history. They will let Cowen take that dubious distinction.

As for the polls showing FF at an all time low, you can add at least 5 points onto that come the election, there are people who will vote for FF no matter what they do. They could have personally handed the deeds of the country to the British Prime minister and these people would still vote FF.
Unfortunately the same can be said for FG and Labour.

I am sick of the lot of the lot of them in Leinster House, can anyone really say things would have been any better if there had been a FG/Labour coalition in power for the last decade? Would they really have stuck up to the now infamous Golden Circle? I very much doubt it.

As for all the political parties jumping on the "Abolish the Senate," band wagon, it is just a cheap PR stunt. If the senate is abolished, total executive power will rest with the Dail, it means they can pass any law without any scrutiny what so ever. They have shown they have no problem messing with the power they have, not mind giving them absolute power.

I honestly believe that if Cowen stepped down - most folk would vote Fine Fail... If only to keep Fine Gael out of it!

Lets face it - what's the alternative? ...........uh oh

Cowen has made a mess of things and i think he is not fully explaining the fact of his meetings with these guys. But i dont believe he deliberatly set out to ruin the country. And at the end of the day he didnt kill anyone. A fact the people of Louth might think about before they vote for an ex terrorist who wont even admit he was in the IRA.

Unfortunately the people of Louth don't seem to care. They'll probably vote Adams in even though the remains of Jean McConville were recently found there, whose murder happened under Adams's 'watch'.
