time4fun4u: I am a very calm, logical person. If someone does something to me,i will not in any shape or form let it affect me emotionally.I will mentally just cut them off,and have no contact with them.
So,for me,its not a case of forgiving,its a case of erasing.

Amity: Are you capable of letting something go?

Can you forgive and forget?

I guess it is based on circumstances but i wonder if i am sometimes TOO forgiving.
I tend to forget any hurt that has been caused and want to make amends.
My view is life is too short, and i wouldnt want to wish harm or bad meaning on anyone..

Your views?(P.S... this is my all grown up n sensible thread)
You have to find the balance depending of what you forgive, how much, which way and who you forgive. For example to forgive some ppl for them is the worst punishment...

I think forgiveness is about self.

You don't forgive other people for just being who they are.

You forgive yourself for not recognising who they are.

I believe most anger needing forgiveness, stems from self-disgust.wine

For me, if someone has treated me badly, it is not really a matter of forgiving &/or forgetting, it's a matter of I just don't want them in my life. So, they are gone, no long part of my life. Real friends don't treat you badly or hurt you. A partner, if it is a good relationship, will not do something to hurt you, not intentionally or thoughtlessly.

That's a pretty sound philosophy.
It's a waste of precious time remaining bitter.
In the end you only hurt yourself! wave

Speaking from your own experience, which does not mean to say the whole of the female race behave in this way.

Yep,forgiveness is the best way to heal your own hurts and time will help you forget.

If you don't forgive you will never forget and the pain stays with you.

nice question Amity

As always JMO
