Ken35: Endas an eejit I'll agree but at least he hasn't murdered anyone or ordered anyone to be murdered.

Fair enough but the people of Louth should keep in mind Mr Adams past before they consider voting for him. I notice quite a lot of young people voting for Sinn Fein unfortunately including my 19 year old cousing who was still in nappies when the provos declared their first ceasefire in 1994.

yes they do seem to be doing quite well with the younger voter, that is a sign of the changing times, many older people could never vote for them and i respect that, but people should remember that all the main parties down here were born out of conflict, im voting in this election purely on policy, at the minute alot of what sinn fein are saying makes sense but if someone comes up with policy that i think is better il vote for them
Perhaps a political party that was enaged in killing police and politicians is not as distasteful to the youth as you might think? I wonder how many people would vote for them if they were promising to assasinate the last government? Quite a few I suspect.

I'm in my mid 30's and as much as I detest FF I'd sooner vote for them over the Shinners any day.
jimbo79: alot of economists agree with them to a point though, and there not talking about burning all the bondholders, plus you can't go into any negotiation accepting all terms offered
Sinn Fein have been advocating outright default not restructuring the debt. A default would leave Ireland econmically isolated from the rest of Europe. Sinn Fein seem to be out of touch with political reality.

they won't have an overall majority though will the, they are taking up a position like all other parties, now in the unlikely event that enda rings them they will have to soften that position and fg would have to harden theres slightly thats what happens in coalitions you get a mish mash of both

I can understand why there is a lot of support for sinn fein at the moment, there manifesto sounds promising and I would agree with making the bond holders paying at least some of the debt but from a personal viewpoint I could never vote for them, My uncle was in the British army and when my grandmother died we were warned by a family friend who was also a local sinn feiner if he turned up for the funeral he would be dealt with and there was nothing he could do to stop it, it was the in the nineteen seventies, tension and hatred was at a high,, he came home despite the threats and a car full of northern provos turned up at the cemetary on the day but all the mourners looked down on them with disgust and as they were heavily outnumbered like the cowards they are they attempted nothing. Scum of the lowest order..

Sinn Fein have had to implement spending cuts in the Northern executive and will have to continue to do so for the next 4 years. Its very easy been in opposition and pretending to be angry about everything, the rality of been in government is very different. At the very least Sinn Fein could at least openly admit that default is not a realistic option.
