A week after the election date is announced and I am sick of the lot of them already.

FF are trying to persuade us that a new leader is a new direction, and that Micheál Martin has all the answers, even though he has been a part of the cabinet for 14 years, if couldn't he come up with the answers in all that time, how the hell is he going to come up with them in 3 weeks?!?!?.

FG are trying to tell us that their leader knows what he is doing, and that he will completely change the political system, problem being is that he is a product of the system. And his ever changing excuses for not doing the TV debate make him look silly.

Labour seem to think that Eamon Gilmore SHOUTING ANGRILY at us will make us believe them. The more I see Joan Burton on the telly the more she reminds me of a demented bag lady.

Sinn Fienn are trying to act all holier than thou, as if they have absolutely never ever engaged in any wrong doing whatsoever.

The Greens are a total non-entity, they still haven't copped on to the fact that people hold them just as responsible as FF over the total failures of government.

So far the only ones I haven't seen that make me want to puke are the independents. I wonder how long that will last?

jimbo79: but that is just ridiculous, the taoiseach is only elected by his own constituents as a td, we dont vote for taoiseach we vote for tds

Are you trying to tell me that no one takes into consideration who the Taoiseach will be when voting? Just look at the current election, people are being turned of FG by its very leader.

If they want to change leaders half way during a Dail term, they should be made go back to the people to validate a new Taoiseach, that was half the problem with Cowen, we didn't make him Taoieach, the ruling elite did, just because he was next in line.

KingLeonidas: martin mcguinness has evolved into one of the most potent and powerful political minds ive seen in n irish politics! the men on this side of the border involved in politics fall into 3 categories unproven inadequate and crooked i beg all irish people to look at what adams and mcguinness have done in n ireland! they brought peace THEY ARE PROVEN they did the impossible our economic downturn and all the problems we have as a nation are not half as hard to solve as what they did in the north...dont think about the past think about the future! on of equality opportunity and possibility

They didn't bring peace atall. They still preside over a criminal empire and are raking it in on their many rackets on drugs, copied DVDs, door security, menace money, bank robberies, fuel laundering, etc etc. Robert McCartney and Dec. Jerry McCabe, what about them?

Were it not for the likes of John Humes and Alex Maskie, David Trimble and James Molyneaux, Albert Reynolds, John Bruton, Bertie Ahern, John Major, Mo Tony Blair, Archbishops Robin Eames and Cathal Daly, Bill Clinton, George Mitchell; they are some of the real people who brought peace to the North, to say nothing of the countless thousands on the ground who had to do the leg work. Don't get me wrong, Adams and Mcguinness had a major part to play but they were the ones with their finger on the triggers, so to speak.

Sinn Fein; Nationalise everything.... except the Army.

Could you imagine them in power! Telling the IMF /EU to take a hike and living off the national pension reserve fund for 16 months. Burning the bondholders as they like to call it??! Look where that got argentina! Who d lend to us then?? So in 16 months we re broke! Oh and tax anyone to the hilt that might have a bit of wealth for creating jobs . .watch the Intels and Microsofts pulling out then in earnest! Do we really want to go back to Russia 1950s style. Lets see how they manage in the north when Britain turns down the tap!

NoeloD076: Thats a very glib and meaningless comment with no basis in fact. Politicians are people just like you and me who put their heads above the parapet and seek election. Not many people do it and its no wonder because people like you are just out to knock them without having hard facts to back up what you say. There are good politicians and bad politicians just like every walk of life. And remember they are elected politicians because we elected them, never forget that.

On Sinn Fein they won't become a major party till the likes of Adams and McGuinness leave the scene and the leadership is passed onto a younger generation. Until then vast sections of the population will be very hostile to Sinn Fein.

I watched tonights debate and Gilmore was engaging in typical populist politics.

Put Gerry adams in a debate and watch the shinners poll figures nose dive, he doesn't even know the rate of VAT in the Republic.
