jimbo79: but if your going to do that then everytime you have a cabinet reshuffle you may go to te people for a new mandate

Nope just the Taoiseach. After all he/she decides on the makeup of the cabinet.

Well that's unless the greens stick their oar in and say no. laugh

True to a point, but the Taoiseach can always fire the finance minister.

It is a pity a few of them weren't fired though. laugh

abitunlucky: I have an idea.

I think that before a new Taoiseach is allowed then a general election has to be held to confirm the parties right to decide the new Taoiseach.

This would give the people an indirect say in the post.

What's the point in having a general election to the Dail only to have a election afterwards to see if people agree with it's result?

A vote for Sinn Fein is a vote for a bunch of murderers, bombers, organised crime, bank robbers and drug pushers.

Spot on. I would appeal to all my supporters on this site to not vote for Sinn Fein. (I don't have any supporters on this site? Aw well, don't vote for them anyway!)

I agree, why would anyone want to vote for those who support the murder of innocent people, it isn't a nationalist/unionist thing its just organised crime and thugs making money.

martin mcguinness has evolved into one of the most potent and powerful political minds ive seen in n irish politics! the men on this side of the border involved in politics fall into 3 categories unproven inadequate and crooked i beg all irish people to look at what adams and mcguinness have done in n ireland! they brought peace peace THEY ARE PROVEN conversing they did the impossible our economic downturn and all the problems we have as a nation are not half as hard to solve as what they did in the north...dont think about the past think about the future! on of equality opportunity and possibility ireland
