TheresMyFriend: Evening there Ooby...I didn't know you were into music. I am too, love a good sound, from way back when.

Anyway...I found this one on Youtube of Johnny Ace
I liked this one... OK, enjoy your turntable... Have a great day/night.

I always loved this one it's so sad.

Johnny Ace actully served in the navy during World War 2 if you can believe it he died in 1954 in Huston TX they say he was playing Russian Roulette but who really knows.

This was the first time he sat down at the organ. A truely eirie sound but what a love song.

Thanks Ooby...for the info...still great songs, even in today's times.

**UPDATE**

I sold the turntable I bought for 40 bucks but I got an education for the 10 dollar loss so I'm not complaining.
The reason(s) I sold it were many. The tone arm was so short it created tracking problems. The stylus pressure was at 7 grams (way too heavy it should be about 2 grams) this puts undue wear on the record. The software that comes with the turntable only records at a low bitrate of 160 bps (low sound quality). So, all in all it was a case of you get what you pay for.

I already owned a very good Sansui P50 belt drive turntable and my son gave me an old JVC amp and hooked it up to my computer for me. I downloaded "Audacity" software (free) which can only be described as awesome so now I'm re-doing all the songs I copied already, the sound quality is like night and day plus with Audacity I can even remove noise and pops from the music.grin I love my new hobby!

Glad it all worked out for you. I have about at least 80, 33-1/3 records some from as long ago as 1956 and no way to play them. I thought about selling them and found out I could only get $2.00 per record so I'll keep them and let my daughter worry about it when I'm not around anymore.

What type of music are they? If they are pop music or christmas or classical or herb alpert or sing along with Mitch they are prob worthless.

Sentimental value is priceless though. My mother loves her records from the 70s. We grab turntables when we find them to have in reserve for when one dies.

Dad has a source for styluses but I think that may be gone soon.

ooby_dooby: Oh sure once they are on you hard drive you can burn them onto a CD either as music that will play in any CD player or as a data CD which can be used for transfering the music files from one computer to another. A music CD will only hole about 20 songs but a data CD can hold close to a hundred I think.

an HD car radio can play your data cds and they hold about 4 albums but the music quality will prolly be better if u copy to a ZUNE or MP3 and play them that way - from your HD radio or docking station - just a thought

I know that the early CD players wont play data CD's I'm not sure how to tell which will and which wont.

Kat by worthless I meant you can find those type of albums at yard sales and flea mkts everywhere. Everybody seems to get rid of them.
