So now I can copy all my albums onto my computer in MP3 format. I have some rather rare albums which are not available on youtube. Johnny Ace Memorial Album, virtually all of Bob Dylan albums, John Prine, David Bromberg, Graham Parker, Little Walter, Duke Ellington, 45's too numerous to mention.
Oh sure once they are on you hard drive you can burn them onto a CD either as music that will play in any CD player or as a data CD which can be used for transfering the music files from one computer to another. A music CD will only hole about 20 songs but a data CD can hold close to a hundred I think.

There is a unit you can get at Best Buy for about $80 that can be used to connect a turntable to your computer. I have a mess of albums I'd love to put on cd's

It's funny you mentioned Best Buy, I had a $20. Best Buy gift card I wanted to put towards the turn table but I found this one for only 50 bucks so I sold the card to my son for $12.00 LOL
paws4: John Prine. Saw him live years ago. What a talent !
I saw him in NYC at a place called the Bottom Line. He came on with a whole group including a drummer of all things. He played for about an hour, took a break and after the break he came out alone with just his acoustic guitar. It was the John Prine people really came to see and he did nothing but requests, it was a great show. I wish I knew how to turn MP3's into youtubes so I can upload some songs. Anyway, I'm going to bed.

cool..we all like our toys.. lol..right? for me i splurged a bunch of money on girl stuff this week. hit the mall and spent some cash.
Well, I've been converting a load of albums to MP3's and burning the songs onto CD's. I've done 8 CD's so far. Next I will be starting on my Bob Dylan albums I've got almost every one there is. You can't name a Dylan song I don't have. lol. Then comes the Beatles. It's fun but a little tiring.
sasyecats: How do they sound? I've thought about getting one. I have tons of albums, but I've gotten pretty spoiled by Cd's.
They sound pretty good. If you get one, depending on the quality you want you could pay a lot more than the $50.00 I spent on this one. I think better ones have more features and probably a better tone arm than this one but it does the job. I only found one album it had a hard time playing without skipping because the record groves were not real deep. I think a better tone arm could be more compliant. I'm not complaining though. The weird thing about this is it doesn't plug into the wall, rather it gets power right from the computer through the USB cable.
YesWho: Back in 88 Isaw that records were being fazed out. I bought a Bang And Olefson turntable for 350.00. I need a new neddle for it and can not find one.
According to your model number, I did a little looking around, and came up with a starter page for you with parts for your turntable. Good luck...
