time4fun4u: Correct! A gentleman should always walk nearest to the road,to protect the woman from being slashed should a car pass by,or as it was years a go,on the muddy roads,mud spray. It was also in case a horse bolted,the woman would be protected.

ali110: Here in pakistan on Most of places specialy in the shopping centres/Markets /Hotels etc women are considered more respectful and the country's law gives independence and dignity more than men

It relates to men being gentlemen.


There used to be a thing called chivarly but it's hard to find anymore.Once in a while you may see a man who will open a door etc for a lady but not that often.

IMO it makes a man much more attractive.When a man opens a door for me or opens and closes a car door for me I show my appreciation by thanking him.
