lifeisadream: It is over $7 pesos one litre of magnum (that is the one I use for my car), a bit higher than half an American Dollar. However the increase or decrease in oil takes place after 3 months in Mexico.
Today's Prices for gas in Mexico: Gasoline Magna close to $9. pesos per litre =0.73 USD per litre.
Gasoline Premium close to $10. pesos per litre =0.82 USD per litre.
(12.25 pesos to one USdollar today from Banorte Bank).
Gas price increses every month by a few cents BUT it never goes down.
Prices for Gas in Mexico are very much the same everywhere, except for borders with other countries to balance the trade with those countries.
In the past week, there has been a drastic increase here. Last Monday I payed $3.12/US Gal for regular unleaded and on Thursday, the prices were at $3.19/US Gal.
Today I went to my sisters house who is an hour away. On the way there, I saw prices around $3.29 and one place was as high as $3.49. On the way back I stopped where it was $3.27.
This is ridiculous
ya gas prices went up over here too. It went up to 30 cents a gallon in two weeks. They used to say during a recession prices go down but actually I have seen many things go up, not just gas. The price of food went up, along with utlity costs.

Raynew1959: Someone was doing something like this in North Carolina several years ago when there was a gas shortage down there due to a hurricane. They would drive into a station towing a closed in trailer and park so the trailer was over the tanks. Inside the trailer were 55 gallon drums and a person who was inside the trailer would open a trapdoor in the floor, remove a cover, run a hose down into the tank and then flip a switch on an electric pump filling the drums. They were eventually caught
My luck...cigarette fumes would probably give me a free trip to the moon.

Damn! They stole my idea. I was gonna do that with my van years ago in my wild younger days. Well, I thought about it anyway. Most likely they got cought because they got greedy. Maybe they thought the station owner wouldn't notice for several days....WRONG

Back when gas was $4 a gallon, several people got arrested in Indiana for doing it. I imagine they probably don't have a need for gas at this time.

I just bought gas about an hour ago at the lowest price around here - $3.29 - and 2 men in a pickup with a closed-in (very large travel-type) trailer were trying to maneuver it next to the gas pump... but only managed after a car at the pump in front of them left. Then they made it, and took up the entire space in front of both pumps ..........................

Well... I didn't have a clue til I read Raynew's post.... (if I had.... naw, don't think so ... but I have my camera in my car-so maybe I would've watched & taken photos if it looked like I was watching a "gas-hijacking" in progress - camera has a zoom lens & takes good photos in the dark...... )
Hmm... maybe they'll show up again next time I'm there....
That kind of gas is still a reasonable price, as far as I know. They call it natural gas here. It's far more efficient for heating homes, water heaters & using for appliances like stoves & dryers, than electricity. I believe the equivalent of gas at the pump there is petrol? (not sure)
