It's nearly forty-seven years now since we lost one of our most beloved singers Jim Reeves in a terrible plane crash just outside of Nashville on July 31st 1964.

With all the troubles in this 'west-end' life at the moment, I like nothing better to do than just listen to a few songs and hark back to more peaceful, sedate days.

Music is a great therapy and I'm sure that other people also speak for their favourite artists too.

If you could pick your favourite top 5 songs to 'drift away' with, what would they be.

Here is my mine:

1. "Distant Drums" by Jim Reeves
2. "Imagine" by John Lennon
3. "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
4. "Going Back" by Dusty Springfield
5. "Somewhere" by Long John Baldry

peace

I´d choose distant drums only because my dad used to sing it me. He was a great Jim Reeves fan.

I´m not a great Country and Western fan though.

Surely one of the best male singers ever.

My Mother was a great fan of his and I do remember where I was and what I was doing the day he died...I can't say that about Elvis.

this is the most important era where mucie was created.the 50's 60's 70's and the mid 80's. from there music has just gone down hill. and at this very moment i was just transfering jims music on to my mobile. not less than 20 of them from a CD. i was too very young. when i heard him. these era's of music will never die out.here is my choice or taste.

1. jim Reeves
2. Cliff Richard.
3. Beatles
4. Elvis
5. nat king cole.

happy listening

Sorry, I can't agree with that.

I think some of the music being made now is as good as anything that's gone before.

Vivre la difference...yay

I've got one of his cd's. He had the type of voice not many men have...

There is a website that shows his grave and monument. Rather impressive.

I enjoy Jim Reeves more than for drifing away, but he's part of my Christmas music list. Great voice whether you like country or not.
