wayward19: The thing that makes us different from all other living creatures is that we are able to think in abstract terms. This creates many problems because we tend to create things that lead to destruction as well as good things that lead to morals and ethics for life and preservation. I believe the use of ethics and morals is to rationalize our existance and is the genesis of all religions.
Dolphins believe their ability to think abstractly is what separates them from all other animals, too. It doesn't separate them from tuna nets, though.

So you really think Ethics and Morality couldn't exist independent of Religion?

I have a dog that arranges his toys all day long in different geometrical patterns, and shapes.
He'll put 5 toys in an arc with equal distances between them; a bone, a rope, a bone, a rope, a bone.
Then he'll put them in a horizontal row, with equal spaces between them.
Then he'll put them in a vertical row, with equal spaces between them.
I've seen him put three different sized, and shaped bones, into a perfect equilateral triangle, with all the sides touching like puzzle pieces.
He rearranges them in the widest part of the floor all through the day; and it amazes my friends.
Wolves plan, and execute long hunts that cover many miles. The hunts involve herding, and members of the pack hiding, and ambushing from from prearranged vantage points on caribou migration routes.

Can you prove, no other living creature thinks in abstract terms?

WHEN ELEPHANTS WEEP: THE EMOTIONAL LIVES OF ANIMALS
On some level, most people believe animals can experience some types of emotions, because they’ve seen it: the guardian who has seen the joy his dog feels at loping along the beach; the nature lover who has observed a pair of Western Grebes running in unison along the surface of a lake; the farm kid who has seen the bond between a cow mother and her child; the slaughterhouse worker who has seen the terror flooding down the line of pigs about to be killed. Extending acceptance of a variety of emotions to other individual animals or species seems much more difficult for humans, however. Masson explores the breadth, depth and complexity of emotion and intelligence present throughout the animal kingdom.

Try telling that story to the thousands of orphan children, the result from the earthquakes in China and the rest of the world, they will tell you there is NO god and that it was simply luck no soldiers died, the same as it was bad luck their parent, brothers and sisters died. That your friend believed it was God that saved him is his rightful opinion, but don't expect others to assume it is absolute proof!
gardenhackle: Nor can you prove that someone somewhere can't flap their arms really fast and fly around the room like a little hummingbird.
But you can believe whatever you want. But one thing you can be sure of. Your belief or lack thereof has absolutely no bearing on whether or not God exists. Nor does my belief. If there is a God, his existence doesn't rely on your belief, my belief or anyone else's belief. And if there is no God, your belief, my belief nor anyone else's belief will change that, either.
Just sayin'. It's not worth beating up yourself or anyone else over what they do or don't believe because it isn't going to change a thing for you - and probably won't change anything for them, either. Although you might believe differently. Of course.
Right, so worship MEEEEEEEE! Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

I conker you win no one can prove something that does not exist….so therefore there must be a god.
