starcrossfish: YEAP!! How's this for a 'stupid' and 'cute' idea...i had a male and female rat once...put them together, they made 7boy's and 7girl's....next thing i know i've got 3 rat cage's made...one for the boy's, one for the girl's and one for the one that got rejected Next i joined the 'rat society'...then after 6mnths of hand raising these little one's, i sold them all, along with their cage's and kept 'mummy shai' and gave 'daddy mitra' away to a friend....Rat's ball's and 'massive'!! If i EVER get another rat, it'll definatly be a girl!!!!!!

When short was little we had a guinea pig (was pregnant when we got it, the gift that kept giving
) anyway Short used to put it in the Barbie Car, and it used to go for little drives 
Rats are just gorgeous..they are so affectionate. Short would do her homework and the rat would try and steal her pencils and pens
when they are being really loving they rub there teeth together.. kinda rat sweet talking..

all I can say is they are very affectionate, its hard to explain, but they do bond with people and if you are upset they will just lay there and snuggle you.
We've had 2, and both times Short and I were devastated when they passed away
I've said no more, cause they have such a short little life, and they pack so much into it, and I still miss our first rat Stary she lived for nearly 4 years..the vet was gobsmacked at how old she was

It is boring being at home.
I miss seeing my boy this week cos I am sick, esp. after spending all last week with him.
Even my dogs are bored!
TV is only just passable.
Might have to go back to work tomorrow.
So ultimately nothing is making me happy right now.
Wow - venting helps...I feel slight better now.
